Just read that top to bottom twice and am still confused. The b20 rods are the same length as the b27? Is that right? So there wouldnt be any advantage to running them?
-
Hey guys. Had another thought last night..... If i buy the m20b27 long motor like i was going to do and run my b20 head. Would there be any benefit to running my m20b20 rods? Would this work? Remember reading somewhere that the b20 rods dont work with one type of piston? (hit or something). Or could i get away with it and maybe get a bit more stroke out of the piston? Or would this then change my compression dramaticly?

keen. How much do you want for them and will the bolt straight in?

what are urethane ones worth? Over here a lot of drifters remove them from s13's and skylines etc and replace them with alloy. A couple guys have even gone as far as filling the while rear end subframe with expanding foam that sets solid to make the rear end as stiff as possible. Another thing that has been done is which i thought about is to make the bushes slightly smaller in height wise if that makes sense? Makes the subframe sit closer to the car which in a lowered car makes the independant control arms sit moreso to their origional optimum angle as some of the cars over here that have been lowered actually have the lower control arms facing upwards they get so low. Probably not relevant but an idea if anyone has a low car?

whats the custom plenum? What kind of power is he hoping to make? Might be just as cheap to keep my b20 instead of going stroker if he can get 150ish atw's?
-
not sure lol. Pretty sure? Pretty sure the ecu had bosch written on it? And its under the drivers side (rhs) steering column. Has plastic bumpers and is a 1989 japanese delivered model. If that helps at all? Also what injectors would i run?

yea i work at an engineering shop so can just weld some extra plate in the top. I want coilovers for the height adjustability. Over here you arent allowed to be lower than 100mm. My other car is wound down to around 98mm i think and my fc i havnt measured. I want it so i can set it pretty much bang on 100mm. And i can adjust the damper and camber of it. I just love the adjustability of it. Standard springs and struts you wont get the same versatility out of? And not to mention some good hard springs would cost me almost as much as coils anyway. The rears arent a massive problem as i can always buy 32 coilovers but the fronts i dont know what to do. If i should buy a kit or buy some of these. http://www.option1garage.com.au/NewSuspension.htm scroll down to the sleeve kit. Just not sure what i would do for camber plates. Thought about making them at work but i wouldnt know how the pillowball setup works

Will the car run fine with the standard b25 ecu? Or will i have to get it remapped? And if so how do i go about that?
-
ah sorry guys. Im pretty sure its motronic? 89 model. Ljet is the earlier stuff isnt it?

what is involved in fitting bc golds? I remember seeing them on ebay aus but they arent on there anymore. Any idea where i can get them? Have read they are pretty good for the money. Wish you could just buy a pair lol. Then i could get some tiens or hsd for the rear from a skyline. With the bc's do you eliminate the seperate spring/shock combo?
-
why did you remove the subframe bushes? I have been thinking about doing this to mine as i will replace them will alloy bushes like has been done in my fc. Makes it a bit bumpier apparently but handling is increased in a drift car. Just had the thought though that if they are that hard to get out, would there be any advantage to going alloy?
-
NOOOO lol. That nasty mazda owes me more money than its worth 3 times over lol. I want something i can have fun in while i cant drive turbo. But then i need something for more serious comps aswell where i plan to place on the podium. Which there is no way i will get that in something i can legally drive on the street

ok so will be picking up my m20b27 long motor tomorrow. Should have intake mani but maybe no throttle body. Dont know about exhaust but i should be able to use mine right? So what kind of modifications will i need to see the 150+hp atws while remaining NA? Will 2.7 injectors work or should i go 2.5? I have heard of using a falcon throttle body, its 70mm for memory. Will that work on my 2L intake? Is there anything on the motor i need to check when buying it? such as year model, things to look for condition wise? Will my m20b20 radiator work? And what ecu will i use? The wreckers here want numbers off the ecu so they can get the right one?? apparently m20b25 isnt enough? Thanks guys. Really need to know as soon as possible so i can go over first thing tomorrow to pick it up

over here in Aus they have a bright orange e30 drift car that i was going to buy but just missed out. I asked what coilovers they were running and apparently it is 32 front coilovers in the rear (seperate spring/strut removed and the coilover with spring on it goes straight in) and ae86 very modified to fit in the front. Other thing that i had thought about is, would it be possible to convert to the stud pattern to 4x114.3? Will have a look into those other coilovers. Really want something damper/camber adjustable though. Or does anyone have any links on what is involved in the welding? I have acess to welders but dont know what i would have to weld.

Hey guys. Wont some coilovers for my beema. Are there any bolt in brands that are cheap? Want to spend around about the $1200AUD mark or less :S I know 32 skyline front coilovers fit in the rear but not sure what to use for the front. Over here i can buy a kit where i cut the spring perch off and weld the adjustable thread onto the strut tube and then use a spring but have to retain the non damper adjustable struts. I can get that kit for around the $350 mark and 32 coils for around the $400 mark. However that doesnt include camber tops. I have looked at BC adjustables but they say you have to weld the front hub onto them??? No idea what this means or what you have to weld as as far as i know the front hub was part of the struts? Are there any cheap bolt in kits? I want something firm for drifting. Think i run like 10/8 in my fc so the firmer the better. And do the kits come with camber tops? Or would i have to buy that seperatly? Thanks

yet another question. Hopefully you guys can help again

there is a mazda section? lol. or was that sarcasm?:S and yea i keep wanting to sell it and get an s13/s14 to be more competitive but mine is unique. Im the only one that really competes in one. and i think there is only 2 others that just attend drift days and one attends the occasional comp. and tyres smoke i have been told may be due to the stiffness of my suspension and the tyres i run so will try some grippy tyres next time. I have had federals on and have had it coming back in the passenger door making my girlfriend choke lol. Only pair i have every had make smoke though -

here are a couple pics. not sure if i should create a thread or not? No bonnet in some pics due to heating problems however i have a 4/5 core radiator sitting at the shop its getting dropped off at tomorrow to go in. Used to have to run small profile tyres on the back aswell to make it stay on boost however with the new manifold design after i blew a hole in the side of the old one flows a lot better and apparently makes close to 400 atws which i like. Bad points are that i CAN NOT make tyres smoke. I dont know what im doing wrong lol. The rears have been on for 4 nights now and will not die or make smoke and yet im still spinning them at double the speed im moving at lol. Pretty happy with what ive done to it so far as im only 18 -

NOOOOO!!!! lol. from brisbane. The drift town I think we have more drift tracks here than anywhere else lol. and some nice mountain roads...but also a lot of cops who like to defect you for having wheels that only stick half an inch out the guard or because your 'too low' lol. I had a look. Can anyone tell me where to change the settings? i clicked on all the things down the left hand side and couldnt find anything except for my time zone. In which i still cant find brisbane -

My bad and yes lol at the commodore parts. Last thing you want is bmw and bogan cars put together lol. However i messaged him and he will sell me everything and told me i could buy everything then said i couldnt have the motor Back to the stroker motor idea. Any of the wreckers would want atleast $3k over here for one of those motors -

this one: http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....entry1286309149 I thought that is what the motor was called? my bad :S -
Hey guys. What is invoved in puttin an m52b23 engine into my e30? Will it work? Is it the same as an m50b25? Can i use my gearbox and engine mounts? and gearbox itself? What kind of power will it make? Is it a hard conversion? I can buy a complete e34 323 for $500 with the back end smashed up so was thinking maybe that rather than building a stroker or m30 conversion because of price. But just worried about what power it will make?
-
thanks. I have read heaps on the internet but i find so much that contradicts things other sites have said so i finally decided to join up to where i found the best information and ask a few questions So massive thanks to everyone so far. How hard is a loom to change over? Im still leaning towards the b27 bottom end as i think it will still be cheaper. They want like $2500+ for memory (atleast at the one place i asked which is the cheaper place) just for a bare m50:S Will the b27 with b20 head have much more power over the b25? (they still want $1500+ here for a b25 ) If you look up archerfield drifting on youtube thats where i spend most of my time skidding. Its a small tight track and then the only other track is queensland raceway. They are the only places i would go. Would the b27 be enough to skid those?
-
is that 190hp atw's or at the flywheel? And what exactly is needed? Will i have to change my loom? If i can get away with the standard loom i will be lol. I hate wiring looms. they confuse me
-
OK got a couple prices today... m20b27 long motor (inc head but will just bin that) for $700 + b25 ecu for $195... Then got to thinking about a m30b35 swap Apparently they are around the 220hp mark standard? And with head work im sure would see a lot more. However the first wrecking yard wants $2500 second wreckers i rang has one for $600 and a gearbox for $450. (yes i know i typed this in my other thread lol. Just thought i would type it again for those who didnt read both) That price includes the wiring loom, ecu etc. So now i have to decide. Which way should i go? i would love an m30 for the power/torque however from what i have read they are a pain to swap? Is there any detailed threads on converting to m30? Whichever way i go i will take lots of photos and post up a detailed build thread showing step by step what to do as i havnt found any on the net yet. And i think its only fair that i give back to those who helped me.. So now i need your opinions? Keeping in mind i want to keep it under the $1500 and MAX $2000 conversion...I work at an engineering place (in the office but still know very basic welding and have alright design skills ) so im sure i can build the mounts i need. Its just everything else like exhaust and wiring (im terrible with electrics :S) Thanks guys!
