  1. Hello all, I’m new to this forum but there seems to be some very knowledgeable people on here, a wealth of info. I have been working on my first BMW over the past three weeks and thanks in a big part to information on here so far I have completed a decent list of items on my 74 2002 cabriolet Ireland big brake kit, front and rear bush kits, ball joints, tyre rods, shocks, springs, sparkplugs and leads, distributor cap, starter motor, and a new weber 32/36 The car was my fathers and has been off the road for 14 years It has done very few miles and is very dear to me. I am really keen to get it back on the road to enjoy! All of the suspension and steering went fairly well and I moved onto the engine bay and although I understand the basics and if I know what is wrong I can normally fix it, as far as diagnosing problems I am hopeless so here I am. The car will very reluctantly start with throttle full on but shakes badly, barely runs and dies straight away when gas is let off. I can’t get it to idle by itself at all. I started by checking spark and have a strong blue spark on all plugs I then pulled the valve cover, raised one rear wheel and turned it to get it so the tdc mark on the cam shaft at the sprocket end lined up at the top, I turned the distributor until the mark on the casing, the rotor and #1 plug cable lined up put everything back together but I still can’t get it to idle or really even run at all. If i open the gas right up I can see fuel puddles through the carb, I am assuming its fairly heavily flooded my normal fix to this is foot flat to the floor and crank but this gets me nowhere. Are the weber's fairly tuned out of the box? or do I need to adjust it? this is all so frustrating I feel so close but so far away, any help with things for me to check would be really appreciated thanks in advance James

  3. Is it still for sale mate???? I have cash and am super keen fell in love with your car when i first read the build thread
  4. its not that bad at all a small amount of rust around the bottom of the doors hasn't been started in around five years tho was mainly the fact the reg was cancelled that was stopping me and with the other two a parts car would not be so bad but hey maybe you have changed my mind
  5. i dont have a photo but its the same as this but silver and a 2000 how much for the motor camb
  6. the interior is completley factory the white sedan is a blue velour and the cabriolet is black leather with white and black check centers niether have even had a stereo put in and are absolutely immaculate i think i have one very out of focus pic i will be in palmerston north or gisborne the white sedan runs infact after five years in storage it started first pop with a jump pack the yellow one runs but not as well, the old farm where it used to be stored had rats they ate some of the hydraulic hoses so it has no clutch i was in nz three weeks ago i moved them to a safer storage location gave them a polish, put protectant on all the leather and fabric then sealed them up again waiting for my return I also have another its silver and a hatchback it is complete but the reg is not on hold like the other two it was intended for parts I like the idear of keeping the original motor in
  7. Hi all my name is Jamie I am currently in melbourne but I have a couple of early 70's bmw's in storage in NZ i plan on returning in the next few months I would like to get them back on the road to tour NZ I have a 1974 2002 cabriolet and a 1972 2002 touring sedan and a 1972 2000 hatch for parts I wan to put a more modern more reliable motor in the cabriolet to make the drive around nz more hassle free I have a bit of cash to throw into it so any suggestions or idears would be appreciated I would also like to upgrade Suspension and brakes The car has lots of sentimental value I am really looking forward to being back in NZ and behind its wheel
