  1. Is indeed, wanna part with it? message me a price you'd like for it.
  2. Need a glove box with all the bits that go with it, catch, lock, etc. Happy to pick up in Dunedin area, reasonable prices considered. Thanks for looking.
  3. Will check over vacuum/intake lines tomorrow. Balancing the throttle on 1200rpm the car has developed a miss fire as you have suggested, car is expelling alot of unburnt fuel, at least it certainly smells that way.
  4. Pulled off the afm today and something was immediately wrong in that the bottom of the afm had seperated from the rest of the apperatus. Ran some sealer around the rim of it all and then put it all back together. Car starts now and will rev up but if left idle will just die.
  5. So it starts now, for all of about 4 or 5 seconds, then stalls. If i try to apply a bit of gas it stalls straight away. Pulled of the distributor cap and it looked ok to me. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  6. Friday could be a goer. Will PM you closer to that to make sure it's still all good.
  7. That would be awesome. Sometime closer to the end of the week? I only had a short amount of time to look at it this arvo , so tomorrow i'll have a proper look and make sure all the intake lines are still attached/in one piece (am wondering if the bang was a back fire in the intake system. Would definitely help to have someone that knows their way around a BMW though.
  8. Cranked the car over this morning and it started as it normally does, i gave the throttle a quick blip to clear it's throat which is when there was a huge crack/bang from the engine bay (sounded left hand side) and the car then promptly died. Tried to restart and it cranks but wont catch (with persuasion and a little gas it will catch then die straight away. ) When I lifted the hood I caught a whiff of 'something' electrical, checked fuses but none appear to be blown. a bit of back ground, the alternator belt squeaks on start up sometimes and the battery light wont turn off until the car is revved a bit. Unsure if this is of relevance, it's really the only thing odd that the car does. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
  9. As per the topic. Mine was modified by a large rock last night at about 11:30. Random act of vandalism I believe. Any how, now in the market for a new Windscreen. Insurance is not an option sadly.
  10. x2 need to be WOF standard, not looking for anything that will cost too much. If you have a pair taking up space in the garage you want rid of I'm happy to pick up. dunedin area
  11. Twice now I have turned the ignition off and walked away from the car with the lights on ( not at night but in poor visability conditions) The car defaults to parking lights only which is great, but not so much when you don't go back to your car till 15 or so hours later when the battery has all but discharged fully. Has anyone fitted an after market light on warning buzzer? is there onew supposed to be on the car already and maybe it's just no functional? I would have thought it was fairly standard equipment on a car even from the early 80's ideas welcome.
  12. Umm the car is for your partner... then why do you care how it handles or what it looks like? Function over form mate, leave it as it was designed... to move people. Just my opinion.
  13. What did you end up getting and what was the cost?
  14. Verbal agreement so far, giving him down payment on Monday Modding... hmmm I have a new born, a wife and an addiction to motorcycles I need to juggle so it will remain standard for the time being. Yes , yes it is. Im quietly excited. Are there a few Dunedin owners?
  15. Was just browsing TM and came across that auction sadly, same boat as everyone else, good luck with the sale
  16. I've had a soft spot for the e30's since forever ago. Ideally a 325 would have been nice but ... beggers can't be choosers I love the shape, it is as you say, a classic. Maybe I just have a thing for boxy 80's cars previous car was a 87 super charged MR2, hell of a lot of fun and substantially quicker, was tempted to go that way again but thought it would be more fun to try something different. Just as soon as I have the in my grubby little hands I'll get a few more pictures up.
  17. Hi, name covers who I am and where I'm from. Have not taken ownership of a BMW yet but am in the process of buying an 86 318i in very orginal condition , the paint is like new save for a few chips on the bonnet. Sadly it's an auto so It won't be setting any land speed records, not really what im'm after anyway. Interior is in fine condition, no rips or tears. Having a new small family going and a few other hobbies the upgrades to this toy will probably be few and far between, would like to get larger rims and lowering springs and then later on convert to manual. Not particularly in that order but which ever funds allow. Anywho, Hi and thanks for having me
