  1. [old nana speal]

Given that it is still technically not road legal, and thus cannot be insured, the price is too high.

Just because you got a WoF, doesn't mean it is legit, more-so that the inspector wasn't doing their job.

Best just get it a Cert and with the few exterior blemishes tidied up, I'd say you could be commanding a higher price even.

  2. Looks V.Shiny!!

Got some specs on what is happening under there??

Not so keen on the fender flare-extenders.

The tried and true, proper flares using E46 fenders would look more integrated.

But hey, "because racecar", if it works...

  3. Dunlop do the DZ02G in a 225/45R16, I recall Barry at MRP had a barely used set for sale off his Levin.

Palmside use to have a Silverstone S575 in a 16" around that size (was like a 215/610), but don't seem to be on their website anymore.

I do recall, years ago when I was looking (before going 5lug +17's), there wasn't much in 16" Not much help there sorry....

  4. true, was tempted to go 245.

Then i looked into it and most others run 235 for 'some' reason.

I assume its more progressive 'let go' (less grip) and more bump absorption in the wall.

If it was a track car, the build would be quite different. Coilover rears, stiffer as opposed to safer cage, light weight everything, 18's + 6pot brakes etc

I think it's because there are far more Evo's & STI's racing that use a 235/45 R17 from factory (ie. Production Race Classes), thus dunlop just bring in what they can move the most of...

  5. Alternatively , 245/40 17

I Didn't wanna go that wide for targa

Was a factory size on the rear of the 3.2's so not 'that' wide.

Is the size road tyre I ran on the E30, being a better fit with the shorter height (625 Vs 650 of a 235/45's).

Prob' 6 of 1, 1/2 doz' of the other in your case.

  6. LOL - tell me about it, it's a convenient excuse when it's cold & dark in the garage though...

I might even get to a point this year where I will need to covertly get your front end 3D scanned ;)

prob' just jinxed myself right there.....

  7. Glad you are finding the feedback & forum useful.

As with all online forums, you will need to filter plenty of BS and douche-baggery, but the guys here are a pretty good (knowledgeable) bunch.

I would be going straight to the LVVTA (the horses mouth), as this kind of 'engineering' design/decision making is well outside the skill-set of a general panel-beater.

  8. Ummm, I think the C & D Pillars and Roof are part of the chassis & significant structural members....

Unless there are some more sizeable members than the small SHS's we can see in the pics, it'll need a fair bit more 'grunt' in there.

Not ragging on the progress at all, just make sure you get all the ducks in a row, and keep the updates coming.

  9. So what sort of structural reinforcement are you going to be making to the chassis??

Have you also spoken to the LVVTA yet (assuming it will be road legal that is)?

I know westy got in to a spot of bother with some kind of *engineering workplan* that he needed to have submitted and approved before doing the work.
*isn't the right terminology, but was some BS like that*

  10. OMG, this project is so slow.

Got the above all welded in, but fially got some Nice Domes head SS capscrews.

Been a bit more progress at the front end of the engine-bay.

New slam panel with IC & Radiator Mounted:

New End tank for the IC coming together:

And the mount for the pedal box:

Got the reinforcing plate mostly welded onto the floor today for the pedal box mount to attach.

So I can then get onto the brake & clutch lines.

Hope to get the IC & Radiator mods all welded up this week too.

  11. Multipoint grouped and wasted spark using the factory coils

I'm not looking for Max fuel economy , individual fuel trims or anything like that as this is just a low budget way of getting more flexible tuning over the factory ecu.

Who mentioned the dreaded 'e' word.....

I was more curious to real word differences going from a fully Seq' EMS to a something 'less'.

Probably more a perception thing I am guessing....

Obviously the improvements in power speak for themselves, bet it's a blast to drive.

PS. No Vidi + No Dorty sounds track = It's not real

  12. Nice - did it take much time on the dyno to tune the VANOS? Presume it was done as a 'steady state' type of thing?

    Sorry if [OT]

With using the Atom, are you running the Ign as 'Waste Spark' and the Fuel as Batch (3inj in 2 groups)?

I was contemplating this for my 1JZ, but 'seemed' a massive downgrade from the sequential Ign and semi-seq fuel (2inj in 3 groups) it has stock.

I presume the M54 would have been full seq' Ign + Fuel, not to mention the dual VANOS originally.
