  3. The charge light is the one next to the oil light .It only glows when the alternator cant keep pace with the electrical load placed on the battery while the ignition is on. The voltage at the battery should be greater than 12V (no load & engine off) if its in good shape
  4. Sounds like your amps wired wrong & has killed your battery,probably not alternator prob unless charge light stays on with engine running
  5. Both my engines were from pre facelift cars ,1 was L-jet (84) & the other was Motronic (86) but they both had rev limiters .The L-jet hit at 6500 & the Motronic a fraction earlier

The system I was refering to uses a MAP sensor .It used a voltage inversion circuit to invert the output of the MAP to one the same as the AFM.The MAP output at high vacuum is 0 volts & 5 volts at zero vacuum whereas the AFM output at idle is 5 volts & then falls as the flap opens .With the circuit in place between the MAP & ECU the whole thing is ment to operate just like the stock system but with out the restriction of the AFM & with a minimum of tuning to set it up .I dont know if it is still available because I couldnt find it on their web site but I do have a copy of a similar circuit that you can make your self if your handy with a soldering iron
  7. Link have a product that gets rid of the AFM & uses your factory ECU - much cheaper than an aftermarket ECU but gives almost the same affect
  8. Take your cars to the drags stock then take them back chipped then take the chip back for a refund . The clock doesnt lie - chip makers do.
  9. Rechipping is the electronic equivolent of changing jets in a carb, you wouldnt expect huge power gains from rejetting unless there was a problem with the stock jets would you?? Alternatively replacing the ECU or Rechipping may be needed where the engine has been modified but the power gains come from the modifications ,the rechipping simply gets you back to the correct fuel mixture. eg Improving the intake or exhaust may cause a slightly lean mixture which rechipping may correct, but without dyno tuning you would never know if your mixture was lean, rich or correct.

  11. Grant the sensor in the cat is not the O2 sensor , it is a temp sensor that warns you the cat is over heating .The O2 sensor IF FITTED is on the pipe straight after the manifold .

  13. Is the 2.8 conversion a modified m20 or a stock m30 ? and if its a m30 why not use the 3.5 ?

    M50 dont come in 2.3L only 2.0 & 2.5 and need a bit of work to fit a e30.Do a search for "Project Orca" for M50 or M52 into e30 swap details.

    2.3L with vanos ???that will be hard to find as there is no such thing. How much do you want to spend ? 2.5L with motronic (86-91 e30) is probably the cheapest option ,they are easy to find & bolt straight in.
  17. Dont spend more than $400 nz on each shippment or you will be hit by customs for the GST as well .If the GST on your order is less than $50 they just let it through no charge.

  20. oh yeah, could be worth a shot. Any idea how many kays the engine had done that they came out of? What kinda price are you after for them?cheers, hizza the engine they out of ( i should say in ) is a 1988 318 with 170 000km on it . I have only run the engine for a few minutes since i bought the car because it has a cracked head & overheats but the tappets seem O.K. $40 for the set would be good .Ill pull the engine out this weekend if you want them.
  21. Hey Hizza Bizza i have a set of lifters for your car but i dont know if i would put used parts in to another engine ?.You might end up with worse clearance problems than you already have. cheers Graeme.
  22. All e30 6 cylinders have solid lifters.Why dont you just adjust them???
