The 2.5L uses a different gearbox from the 3.5L

Ive been offered a facelift 318 coupe 1989 auto in red for $1950 ,the auto is not shifting properly but otherwise the car is in excellent condition.Does anyone out there think its worth it???

The parts I have are - 2 front seats(passenger side is missing the rubber handle),both front door cards ,both rear side panels ,rear seat,parcel shelf carpet,front kick panels,front arm rests -sorry no dash, at least not a perfect one,but Ill throw the dash in if anyone wants it .It has a crack in it & was bent a little by the crash

I have a complete black & grey interior from a facelift 2 door E30.Its in reasonable condition, only the piping on the drivers seat is starting to come apart & someone has done a rough repair on it .$100 ono Also I have a 4 door interior in almost perfect condition .Its from a chrome bumper car & always had seat covers on the front seats .The only catch is its colour is a bit of an aquired taste , sort of gold/tan $80 ono Cheers Graeme

maybe the spring in the centrifugal rev limiter is crook or maybe worn points???

Do you think you could make the parts to adapt a cheap LSD (nissan/datsan/subaru) to fit the BMW halfshafts/driveshaft

On L-Jet cars - an electric transfer pump supplies fuel at low pressure to the main fuel pump. The transfer pump is mounted in the fuel tank along with the fuel gauge sending unit. The main fuel pump delievers fuel at high pressure and is mounted beneath the car near the drivers side rear tyre. Ive had 3 gas tanks apart, 1 was a 84 L-jet, 1 was a 86 motronic & 1 was a 88 motronic but none of them have an internal pump, only one external pump on the passenger side

Not in every e30 there isnt .Usually Pre facelift cars only have a second pump if they are fitted with long range tanks (Australian market etc)

Yes you can use a different pump ,dont know about a Z one,are they external?? Maybe VL commodore .Get your tank as empty as you can before the swap ,it makes the whole thing a lot less mess.So long as the pump fits & flows enough volume for your engine( ie not one from a 660cc Honda Beat) nothing else is really effected.How much current is your existing pump pulling??Have you pulled apart a dead relay? Is the coil burned out or are the contacts burned?

I had a similar problem ,the warning light would come on sometimes even though the lights were still working .Turns out it was a bad bulb .The glass part of the light had worked free of the metal fitting ,the bulb still worked but every now and then it would flicker.A bad contact ,even for a split second will cause the warning light to trip out

The e36 rack has a faster ratio (M3 e36 faster still),is lighter (aluminium housing) & less prone to leakage.2 small spacers (for between the rack & x-member) & an adapter plate (for the steering shaft) need to be made .Check out http://www.e30zone.co.uk/techne36rack.asp
