M50B25 5-Speed E30 Coupe ftw.
I agree.
E30, no questions asked, hands down. E30.
Kthnx.

Are they similar to the seats in my E36?
http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....mp;#entry103477
Practically the same except they're a bit tighter. The design is the same though. They hold you in pretty nicely, I was doing some pretty mad cornering on Saturday

Yeh the secret project doesn't have any backseats to access so that's not much of an issue. Didn't think about maybe just getting them recovered instead of buying new seats?
I thought about it, but they've got the extending thing out the front etc. which makes them more expensive to recover. By the time I get the recovered and in and out, i'd be a good way to new seats - got a quote on $700 for a pair of reclineable black seats (nice looking) plus $300 install. Ideally i'd like some genuine M interior, so I might wait until my next trip to South Africa and bring some back with me as stuff like that there is common as hell
-
Take some photo's of the seats if you're selling them, I'm looking for a set of cheap seats that will be a bit more supportive than the stockers on my secret project.
Sounds like it's gonna be a nice ride! I quite like the whiteness.
Thanks
Really nice to drive with, the drivers seat is perfect - it's even electric. The passenger is a bit more worn, a little less comfy but looks the part none the less. They're for the 2 door too, so have the appropriate releases on them to get in the back. I think the rail on the drivers is a bit loose - I dont know if its the mounts or the actual rail - will investigate. Will let you know first if I find some appropraite replacements, I went to Hyper but they have a sh*t range.
EDIT: And i'll give ya a great price if you tell me what ya secret project is

Some lowlife smashed our left front indicator lens last night, which hopefully wasn't a prelude to a theft of the car. Anyways, I need a left front indicator lens for an '88 E30. Has a Tech 2 kit if that makes any difference?
I got a pair of Smoked covers if you want them? They came off my tech 2 kit - i swapped them out for clears. They're quite nice, take a look at my post in rides and the first few photos shows them. Prolly do something like $25

Drop it! a few inches.
Think the blackened kidneys quite suit it to be honest, but will look good with the chrome back.
Haha do not worry about that, it'll be a very nice ride hight tomorrow once I get the suspension off my other E30 and clean it up a bit, clean up and paint the calipers - and give the wheels a clean, and i'm finished externally. I need to find some decent seats - it has aftermarket Recaro's which are nice, but old and worn.
And with the kidneys - I was never much of a fan of changing it from chrome - in my opinion that's what makes it a BMW - it's like taking the BMW badges off and either fitting those horrible ///M Bages or putting a giant H on there.
We'll see though, i'll swap it and take a shot.

Yeah its the one off TM - I just swooped in there and planted a nice cash offer - guy didnt want to let it run until the end because it ended Xmas night.
Yeah the little bits painted white look weird, like around the side mirrors, around the number plate and the handles - I didnt like it initally but it seems it was done properly, so I've left it. I still have to de-black the grill (as not only do i not like blackened grills, but this has been done badly) and also to re-black the black grills around the lights etc. (i use a vynal dye, works really good).
Also have to black the headlining and get some either smoked or cleared tail lights - thus far I havent seen any good E30 tail lights that are better than stock. I've fitted the proper clears on the sides and front, looking pretty good.
Spent 4 hours cleaning it top to tail, and an extra 3 or so hours cutting / polishing / waxing to get the following result. Went on a bit of a road trip up north in it Saturday, took some shots.
The paint is perfect - no cracks, no dents, no chips - anything in the pics is just dead bugs lol...had SO MANY.

I got it - the smacking the sides with the hammer, and soaking it in CRC job did the trick - just poped right out no hassles. This is from my old E30, and the ball joint was already totally screwed - it makes a cracking noise and there was no boot on it to start with, so I wasnt too worried about breaking it. And hey, only way to learn is to play
Now to go break something else
Thanks for the help guys
PS: New set of joints + kit to put it in on order from BMW

Just spent the last 15 mins on this...no ammount of hammering is making this thing move. I'm about ready to drive a honda into it.

i suffered the same problem with mine.
eventually what worked was when i screwed the nut back onto the bolt. make sure the top of the nut is flush with the top of the bolt. and then hit if with your mallet. you've got to be careful not to strip the nut or bolt though.
Ah so you mean hit the nut and bolt, using the nut as a sort of head?
I've tried just about everything else, and i've got 3 more to do, so i'm about ready to try anything!
Will try now.
Thanks!

Nice ride! I'll always have a soft spot for the E36 coupes - but my passion is E30's, perticularly white

Do you not remember the South Auckland meet. Anything would be like a bat out of hell compared to whatever he was driving then!
Hahah go easy! I'd only had the car a month or so, hardly had the hang of it
But yeah, the 316 isn't exacly oozing horsepower....if your car can only loose rear wheel traction in the wet slightly on an angle, then you need to upgrade...

Well picked up the car with the kit on it today - very nice car, nice interior, very strait and very stock under the hood, has all the little extras and covers etc.
Took some shots before swapping the wheels over. Still yet to swap suspension and exhaust, and then the gearbox (as the new is auto). Thing goes like a bat out of hell, came with receipts for over $3500 worth of rebuild work on the engine done by Team Mc Millan.
Did a bit of work on it thisafternoon, last shot is at the carwash.
Still need to get interior pics - it has that horrible fake wood vineer glued to half of it.
Got a lot of work to do to get it up to standard, I think it needs a diff replacement as it's making some funky noises.
So watch this space!

Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a M42 318iS engine, loom, manual gearbox, etc. - the whole deal. I have the cash right now. I dont know the availablity of these, and i'd consider buying a donor car and removing everything myself. I dont know if it's a M42 in the E36 318iS's but i'd consider the engine from an E36 too, but much prefer an E30.
PM any details.
Thanks
Gareth

paint it!
Too much hassle & money unless you can find me somewhere that would colour match my pannel for $40 - $70
is lip? how much im keen?
$250 for you
I think Andy might be interested though as he sold it to me (for $400 I might add, fresh out of the box and strait from BMW) and told me if i ever wanted to sell it again, to talk to him first...if not, all good!
-
Still DYING to find a white front right 1/4 pannel - I'm so sick of my green one!!!
-
yeah im looking at people that have put the mtech1 onto facelifts...I mean, i have everything else pretty much lol.
I've been looking at it, and it's only a bitch because of the mount points, I'm fairly certain I could get it fitted...would be kinda cool lol.
Know anyone that wants to buy my front lip? I need to sell shiz off to pay for this car upgrade and fixing at any rate.
