  1. Yeah..I have Jamex superlows in my 316 and they're really not that low at all. This was mine with "superlows", 15's, tiny tires, e90 drop hats in the front and no lower spring pads in the back.

I now have 17x8.5's on the car with the same set up and still have zero tuck. Wouldn't really want to be much lower with these wheels though. In saying that, for cheap springs I've been impressed with the ride and handling. The guy that imports them is great to deal with as well.

  2. I can get the tires taken off over the weekend if that helps at all Graham. Whoever buys them could probably make their $200 back by selling the tires on though :) I just haven't taken them off because I don't have space for a stack of tires AND a stack of wheels haha

  3. Looking for an m20b25 in running condition with a loom, ecu, and intake. Not worried so much about other ancillaries as I can piece them together later.

Located in Masterton but can travel or pay for shipping.

Let me know what you've got

  4. There's heaps of room for a 3" exhaust, especially if keeping the m20.

Yeah well it's been done plenty of times so it must work. Just doesn't look like a big enough gap with the stock manifold on there

  5. Engine, driveshaft and gearbox are out at last. Load leveller made it so easy. Starting to get a tad worried about the amount of room or lack of it between the exhaust manifold and the firewall as I was hoping to fit a 3" pipe down there.

Anyway, I'm a walking advertisement for simple green and chemz grease eater now. The gearbox came up mint! Also replaced the rear seal on the box and the cushion thing on the shifter arm.

  6. That's awesome! I've made one minus the stand and fancy trigger. Just used a ball valve and a blown 10 bar pump pressure tank.

If you use 50mm PN12 PVC for a barrel and then get yourself a couple of small V cans you can cut the top off, fill them with water and freeze your bait and tackle into them.

You could actually hook up an old rattle gun to reel it in too :D

  7. Set of four. Will come with tyres. Couple have plenty of tread, other two have inside camber wear but may get another wof. 4x100. Rims are in great condition. Had the centres of two professionally repainted a couple months ago as they were plasticoated when I got them.

Looking for $550 for the set

  8. Andy - OP is slow to pick up on your subtle correction that these are generally referred to as "Top hats" not "" Drop hats"" .

The difference in pad thickness is to enable you to level the suspension to within spec. To do this you first measure the ride height with a pad in there (usually the 3mm ) and then work out which to use where.

The other option is to plasti-dip the first wind on each end - but pads are nicer - you can make your own out of urethane sheet.

P.S Andy it's a spring 'perch' -------- "purch" is a colloquial term meaning 'to buy' or make a purchase.:wacko:

Actually, people do commonly refer to these as drop hats. That's what they're advertised as when they're being sold as E30 items probably to differentiate them from the factory top hats. http://store.garagistic.com/BMW-E30-front-drop-hats-31336764093-E90?search=drop%20hats

And yeah Andy - they're not specifically mentioned and I've passed warrants without my lowers in the rear but technically you're removing a factory suspension component. Comes down to whether or not the inspector knows that they're supposed to be there in the first place I guess.
