Jack your car up and put it on stands and take your rear wheels off. Put your car into gear n listen for the noise. Some times when your rear discs ar slightly warped it will grip onto your brake pads and push them up against the caliper cradle. check if you hav brake pad shims on the pads. I had the same prob and shims fixed it

Hi im thinkin of replacing the diff on my 1986 318i auto beacuse at the moment it has a diff whyne and it makes a clunking sound when I let go of the accelerator and i also leaks oil. The replacement diff I hav found is aslo from a 318i but it has a different ratio the ratio I have at the moment is 4.27 and the replacement diffs ratio is 4.47. Can anyone please tell me wat differeces I will notice when driving and how it will affect the car. Oh and im gettin the diff for $160 used Thank you

Hi I have a 1986 318i with a m10 engine. For some reason the engine does not idle steady. It revs back n forward from 800 to 1000 rpm. I have changed HT leads, Dist.rotor, Dist.cap, Spark plugs, The head gasket has been changed not so long ago and the head was reconditioned. I am pretty sure there are no vaccum leaks. It does this at normal operating temperature and sometimes when engine is cold. (could a coil cause this?) Please help me. Thank you

the springs are B & R or something they are red springs. Will taking tha rubber out cause any damage?

hi guys I have a e30 318i 1986 with chrome bumpers an i hav put lowering springs in it and i also changed tha shocks at the same time. But for some reason the front has lowered abit and the back hasnt!! Can some one tell me how i can drop the back more plz!!

thanks man I replaced the HT leads but it made no difference so I took my car into Service European and they said the dizzy was loose. Now it goes fine!!

A couple of days ago i was driving my 1986 318i i stopped at the lights and when i i started to drive off the car started to misfire and hesitated to go over 40. I replaced the distributor cap and rotor and fuel filter now the car goes over 40 but it still misfires at 40 and 60 kph. When I removed the plugs they were dry and carboned and also at the time my cars fuel was low. Can anyone help me plz??

Hi i got a 86 318i with a m10 engine. Does anyone know if i can remove the vane airflow meter and put a Pod Filter onto the intake pipe.
