  1. The cops in Wellington DO have laser guns, have been pinged by them many a time....

..or they are parking sensors. in fact some of them even have this capability for that reason.

Pretty pointless in wellington, the cops down here dont use laser guns, in fact i dont think ive seen a laser gun pointed anywhere in NZ for well over a year and at a guess i would be doing around 30,000kms a year if you added all the cars up, though 95% of that is upperhutt and south and no porirua.

  2. What would you guys expect to pay for such a car? say around 120k on the clock (equivalent).

Cheapest ive seen on trademe is around the 60k mark and go up from there. Is this about right?

Let me hear all your suggestions and advice!

  3. Hi guys, so im looking at importing an E60/E61 M5 from the uk.

Definately cheaper than buying here. My other thought is how hard would it be the re-sell after with it being a UK import? I personally would have no problem buying a UK import. Much higher spec than NZ/jap versions and most have a full service history to boot but would it be a hassle offloading it?

    Thoughts/suggestions welcome...

  4. Its a tough call. Like ive said, great car no problems but lots of cash tied up on it. Had so much work done to it and its in great shape mechanically. The odd ding on the paintwork here and there but for a car of its age its to be expected.

Will keep mulling it over and see

What sort of price do you think I could get for it if I sold it on?

  5. So Diesel guy, did you end up importing in the end? Would be interested to hear how you got on!

Has anyone else used Autohub or famous.co.nz ??

EDIT: just seen that Autohub and Famous are asia only...

Whats the general consensus on shipping companies ex UK?

    Best? Worst?

  6. Been thinking of selling my 96 E39 540i recently as im looking at getting a 4x4. She runs great and it would probably be bad car karma to part out a perfectly fine running car but with the amount of money i have spent on getting her upto standard id never be able sell it for the price id like to sell her for.

My photography needs are requiring something bigger and a bit more rough and tumble that I can take out into the wilderness.

Im not going to have 2 cars either. Financially doesnt make sense.... although id bloody love to!

So im wondering if id be likely to make more money parting her out?

She has 208k on the clock

    Thoughts? ideas?

  7. Yeah ive had two RE002's fail so far and my third wore out really unevenly even though nothing wrong with alignment etc. Tony's tyre service (tossers) didnt want to know even though i had insurance.

Since goodyear stopped the F1's ive had to resort to bridgestone and never ever been happy with them. This is the last time i'll be using bridgestone

    Utter bollocks, Nuff said

  8. Ive just had this same problem. Turned out to be a coil pack. Didnt throw any error codes so had me stumped for a while.

    Hope this helps

    pulled plugs

    all look ok

cylinders 7 & 8 had a little oil on the plugs so i cleaned that up

    still running the same

Just bought a code scanner tool so should know more by the end of the week

  9. Hi guys, can anyone distinguis what this noise could be?

Recently had my engine mounts and gearbox mounts replaced and this noise has since started. Only happens in 1st and 2nd gear at low revs. Im praying its not something in the tranmission but im guessing it could well be.

The noise is at the beggining of the video so any ideas would be great!

    Cheers

  10. Hi guys, I just wondered what my options are in NZ for a new radiator preferably an upgraded one rather than the OEM shite. Seems a waste of cash putting in another radiator that will again eventually fail at some point.

Its a 96 model. It has been replaced once before and now needs doing again.

    Any pointer/advice?

  11. Wondered if anyone might be able to shed some light on what my options are after messing up the first stage of the transmission service.

I had the car jacked up and ready to go and I went to loosen the fill plug before dropping the fluid from the drain plug, low and behold I stripped the bolt.....

    Yes i know....

What are my options? Obviously its going to have to have to go to a specialist and have drill bits spinning near very sensitive areas.

I couldnt friggin believe it! Good job I didnt drop the oil first...
