  1. Hi guys, I have a set of style 65 18 inch M5 wheels for sale. These are OEM. Took them to be inspected this afternoon and one has a very slight buckle in. Put it on the back and you'll never know... or fix it.

Some slight curbing, no tyres unfortunately.

Asking for $700 or feel free to make a reasonable offer.

Or if you have 18 inch Schnitzer style wheels like....

  2. I like that! Anyone in Wellington able to code my car so it flashes its lights?

Thanks again for getting the info for me Allan! My car has lots of stuff but no alarm... Gutted.

I sent ALL the details in the PM, but it appers not to have the alarm.

Mine flashes the indicators when you lock it, but it has no alarm either. (Of course I coded it to flash them anyway  )

  3. Judging by that i reckon it does have an alarm installed. Can you confirm this Allan? I PM'd you too.

If it does have one? Whats probably happened to it? Can I get it going again or is it a trip to the stealers....?

If you want to PM me the last 7 digits (2 letters 5 numbers) of your chassis number I can tell you if it was fitted originally.

otherwise, go HERE and follow the destructions about OPTIONS and you'll get a full factory list.

You can also look under the rear seat - the build sheet should be tucked in there. It's a dotmatrix printout of the same info.

  4. Been searching many forums on this but most come back with alarm problems.

Im trying to figure out if my car has a factory alarm and if so how do i go about re-activating it as it is clearly not working and never has since Ive owned the car. Looking in the little red clown nose under the mirror it seems as though it has something inside it (LED maybe?) but hard to tell without pulling the thing off.

    Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

    Its a jap import.

  5. Excellent! But when will you be opening a branch in Wellington?!?!

Thanks to all the supportive members of Bimmersport, from 1 guy in April 2010... Now a team of 11...

We appreciate all the support we've received from the members of Bimmersport and are really looking forward to working on more cars from the Forum!

  6. How much was the replacement cell?

I have purchased a replacement dimming mirror cell from radar-mirror for an e39 m5. The service was fast and the product quality seemed really good. Very happy with it. I would recommend.

Dis-assembly of mirror to make replacement was pretty easy but needs care not to break the fragile tabs.

  7. Yeah ive seen plenty too but Ive not seen anyone do a DIY for hiding the concealed display inside the rear view mirror

Pretty sure there are heaps of DIY threads for hiding a V1 install. I know I've seen a few from the states for E39's too that were pretty cool too. Guts hidden in sunroof electrics panel and display in foldout ashtray

  8. Just been reading about integrating my V1 into the rear view mirror. I have all the accessories needed to do it but wondered if anyone ahd used this guy? Lots of great reviews on other international E39 Oweners forums...

    http://www.radar-mirror.com/V1.html

I wondered if anyone had actually disassembled their E39 review mirror? The guy wants $399.00USD to put the concealed V1 display unit into the headlight which seems chuffing expensive. Dont see why one couldn't do it themselves.

  9. Why on earth did the stop doing this? When did they stop the Wellington street races?

As far as I can tell this hasn't been posted here yet, but may be of interest. A fascinating behind-the-scenes look at Charlie Lamm's BMW team that competed in the 1990 Wellington Street Race.

The winning car is now sporting it's Australian Touring Car Championship 'Diet Coke' livery (ex Paul Morris / Tony Longhurst / Frank Gardner) and lives in the South Island, regularly competing in the Historic Touring Car class (including last month at Hampton Downs).

  10. Ha! Amen brother!

Ive wanted an E39 for as long as I can remember and since owning mine, im with you 100% on saying that owning one has been an adventure.

    Jeeezus H

No factory sub (probably would've been happy if it did), and definitely no factory amp in the L/H side of trunk. Have seen many with factory amp in boot and mine does not have one.

Seems I have some sort of poverty spec optioned radio. From what I have read some people speculate there was a headunit installed in E39s with an integrated amp. I will pull out my headunit tommorow and verify.

Owning this E39 has become an adventure...

  11. Canon 550D with an 18-200mm lense.

    http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=560155

By far the best bang for buck.

Have got a couple of things coming up this year that warrant the ownership of a decent DSLR.

Just looking for some reccomendations on brand / model and perhaps a good source of info on lens info ( f-stop etc etc).

Looking to spend up to $1000 - happy to buy second hand in good condition.

What i want it for is mostly decent outdoor shots, often landscape at decent range, with the ability to still cope with mid range.

Initially i just want a body and 1 lens - something that will be a good everyday starting point.

    Cheers !

  12. Likewise!

What are the better spots around the north island?

Any members in Wellington who are interested in this sort of thing? I know of a few places, mainly old military stuff but Im sure thee are more civilian spots around.
