Ati cards? gah! Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8ghz - It will easily reach 3.2ghz on stock cooling, aftermarket - 3.5ghz. Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 - Highly overclockable - very cheap and feature rich - only thing its missing is sli. 2GB of DDR800 RAM - need that 800 headroom for o/c Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB - Performs to similar spec as the 8800GTX (the most powerful card on the market) at lower resolutions such as 1280x1024 which you will most likely be running if you have a 19" LCD. And you'll have a fair bit of dosh to spare.
Carl 3 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Go for the latest AMD X2 chips, they aren't slowed down by the FSB bottlenecks that Intel chips and run cooler than the intel chips so less overheating issues hence less chance of crashing and greater overclocking ability. Go nvidia SLI FTW but don't go crazy and get the latest card.
