OLLIE 26 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 As title says I'm after the small starter motor for my M20, I am told that the E36 starter motors bolt straight on and are better because they are threaded and easier to get on and off if need be, if they don't bolt straight up then i need the E30 small one. hotwire 352 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Ollie Can do a serviced E30 starter for $90 in small configuration Bear in mind the earlier (larger) starter fits the same & is arguably a better starter in that it is a more simplistic design & more robust than the smaller reduction type - just a bit more of a bitch to access the top bolt.
