the stuff you're looking at doing seems pretty expensive. why not just do a standard rebuild but with some low comp pistons, then chuck some boost in it via a turbo or vortech supercharger? with vortech you'd barely need intercooling (no need to cut holes for piping or big front mount etc as im guessing you dont want to do). more power, more torque, cheaper. seems like the logical option? or am i missing something?

If i wanted to go 'FI' then i probably wouldn't choose an M3 engine to try it on. Sort of would loose the value of having one of these cars if i wanted to re-sell (which i wouldn't). I know a few people that have re-built 'FI' s14 engines, but why take a hi-comp engine and built it into a low-comp turbo'd one?

Plus, with the right gear these engines are good for a reliable 300+hp.

Laurence.

im aware of what an m3 is, hence my comment about not cutting panels for pipes etc. the reason i mentioned FI was that the argument for keeping it original kinda goes out the door when you mod the engine and add motec, etc. if anything, a low boost (5-ish psi) vortech (or a screw type, eaton etc) system running through a rebuilt engine (keep it standard compression) would make better torque and power, cheaper. if you had to sell it, unbolt the vortech, retune the ecu and it is standard again.

just trying to put some options out there...
