Checking gear box oil

Recommended Posts

Hi,

am wanting to check the gear box oil level as it has been leaking on my E30. Do I need a 17mm allen key to open this? 10mm was the biggest I could find in Super Cheap.

Cheers,

Nick

what you can do is get i a bolt that has a head the right size. screw on some nuts and weld them together so they are sitting flush. clean it up so they are all flat edges. then use a socket and power bar on the end that is left sticking out. hopefully that should work.

Do this^

Depending on how tight the plugs are you may get away without welding the nuts. Just do them up MFT

Speaking of gear boxes, I changed my oil about 2-3months ago, the oil that came out was kinda like water, very very runny. The gear box oil I put in (going from the manual) was a sh*t load thicker. But now I have a whine in first and second gears when excellerating. Do you think the change in oil has done this?
