M325is 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Will keep you in mind, I know of somebody planning on leaving his job as a designer for a large auckland sign company. If you still looking when he does go I could help you out. The place is really good, he's leaving to go out on his own.

3series 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 built up a portfolio yet?
OLLIE 26 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 built up a portfolio yet?portfolio is key, online portfolio and on a CD is pretty essential these days also.browse through the dinz website for potential leads and ideas. www.dinz.org.nz there are heaps of graphic design jobs out there, you need to decide what it is you'd prefer to do. in house designer, work for an agency, freelance (which you can do on the side of a sustained income anyway). also ask yourself "do i want to end up specialising in print or in visual/web?" it's hard to be a wizard at both. I'll keep you in mind Chris when jobs come up, i'm actually on the hunt for a 3D photo renderer/animator to work with, good contract opportunity if anyone is interested. Is it worth the membership fees? nah not a member, we might try it next year, i've heard that it is not really worth it for what you get, but i haven't tried it yet so can't make that call. misgvous_1 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 I'm am member of DINZ. As a student it's not so bad but the prices head up quite a bit for someone in the industry and i personally haven't got much out of them. I will keep me ears open for any jobs popping up. Which establishment did you study at? A CD and web portfolio are essential but make sure you have a unique printed portfolio if you have print work to show. Good luck with the hunt. Nice to have another designer around.
ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 Did a 2 year Diploma in Design at Raffles Design Institute, so got the international Raffles Dip. as well and NZ standards. Going to spend this week making an interactive portfolio in Flash so will make it useable for Internet as well as handing out on a CD.

OLLIE 26 Report post Posted September 6, 2007 Oh my god Ollie, why are you leaving?? You need to let me know who gets the job, lol. don't worry shelley they will be well informed about who we get to do our signwriting. I am leaving for good at the end of the year, to grow my design business. This job is perfect for someone at uni because it will be 1 day a week until the end of uni then 3 days after that, i'll still be working with the new employee to make the change over go smoothly.
