BMW, the world’s largest premium carmaker, said that vehicle sales in July grew by a fifth due to strong demand of its BMW brand cars and MINI cars. Deliveries rose 20 percent to 123,017 with year-to-date sales now ay 853,202.

Audi and Mercedes, on the other hand, are lagging behind. Audi reported a 9.2 percent growth for July with sales totaling 81,000 vehicles, while Mercedes-Benz posted a 1.4 percent growth with 103,700 cars sold.

The BMW brand itself increased sales by 20.2 percent for a total of 104,096 vehicles sold. The new BMW X5 accounted for most of the sales with 70 percent sold.

BMW expects sales to grow by a high single digit number taking into account the launch of the 1-Series, MINI Clubman as well as facelifts for existing models.
