Will an e28 m20 gearbox fit an e28 m30 engine??

i have a gearbox from a 525e, m20 e28

I wana know if it will fit a e28 525i m30?

Anyone know?

Will and I were discussing this the other day. most of the holes line up. We did a bit of tutuing and decided you'd most likely need to do a cut and weld of the bell-housings like what Andrew did to his turbo. the bellhousings on the auto boxes un bolt so you ma be able to get one of an auto for m30 and cut and weld onto an m20 box.

Short answer - yes but we don't think its bolt-up -> custom fabrication necessary.

no it wont , unless you modify it to bits .

top bolts 120mm apart on the m30,M10 and 140mm on the m20,m40,m50 etc
