E30 M-tech II body kit

Recommended Posts

Has anyone brought any kits over the internet?

is it safe?

is there anyone in NZ that makes kits?

I have a 1987 325i 2dr and would like to fit an M-tech II kit (i know that there is a difference between fiting pre

and post 88)

i have found two sites so far...

http://www.rosemdesign.com/lowen/pages/mtech.htm

http://www.m-99.co.uk/Car_Bodykits/BMW_E30...30_3_series.htm

any feed back would be helpful!

Cheers,

Paul

Ill just add an option.

Boostlifters Performance

Just one thing I've noticed. You can get a Full fiberglass kit for $1425 on the first site (Well I'm guessing its fiberglass) but you can get original Plastic Kits for around that, or even a little less for the ones that were on trade me a while ago, although they did need a little work.

But they don't come around very often, really.

Is it possible to get an M-Tech kit new from BMW?

Do they still make them?

Can you only buy aftermarket?

Ring BMW.

I called BMW NZ, they said call any local dealer.

Jeff Gray BMW (Hastings) can get the front and sides, the back has been discontinued

Front $1200

Sides $1400

(a tad pricy i think...)

If this becomes my only option is there any other back that would look good?

They come up on trademe for about $1000 - $1200, complete kit.

For the kind of money your talking of above, you could almost buy an E30 with a MTech kit.

For a motorsport maybe, but the look-alikes are going for much less, not mention the odd motorsport that has been advertised at $5kodd and not sold.

Show me a msport that has sold for that money recently.

Anyway I digress.

I bought a tech-II (4-door admittedly, but they are harder to find anyway) genuine plastic tech II-fitted 320i with a blown auto 'box for under $2k. As you know it was diamndschwartz so didn't need painting, and we got the 320i on the road WOF'd and reg'd, replacement auto, serviced with new cambelt etc for another $700 (plus my labour - lots of). It's now Keiti's daily and worth roughly the total cost spent including getting the tech II on my car. It's definately the way to go if you can find one.

Only caveats: Mine needs a couple of small plastic welds, paint could do with a touch up here or there, and you're unlikely to find one the right colour anyway.

The kits iv been quoted were not glass. (plastic)

I have seen e30 tech II's sell for under 10k but they were usualy not manual and 320i or 318i

2dr tech II i think is even harder to find...

If I was you I'd buy something like the car on tardme and do as graham says.

Looks pretty tidy from pics, so even after taking the kit off it you'd have a nice saleable wee car anyway.

That said I have no idea how the guy got the seats so low- I can't even see them in one of the pics hah.
