325_driver 422 Report post Posted October 9, 2007 hey guys, just about to under go my conversion on the e34 whats the deal with the wiring, im told im going to have to wire up the reverse lights ?? what to? will i see it ? and park/ neutral have to be wired together ? Some simple instructions on this will do fine, just providing i have a broad idea. also whats up with the transmission cooler, am i going to get rid of the transmission cooler since im getting rid of the auto trans ? tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted October 9, 2007 I just Recently Coverted my E30 to Manual For the Park/Neutral what i did was i cut the plug end off the automatic gear selector, found the wire which has 12v with a multimeter. then i knew which were the power wires and which were not. then i made a fused testing wire and just tried the remaining combonation of wires untill i could crank over the car. Brennan 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 I just left the cooler in as i wasnt too fussed and just wanted to drive my car. What i did for the wires was i took (broke) apart the auto shifter and worked out which wires are connected to which when it is in the N position. I then simply found the same colour wires and jumped them as would happen if the shifter is moved to N. As for reverse lights; find which ones are connected when the car is put into reverse and wire them to the gearbox reverse wires. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 most info you need . is here gear box swap. i just replaced starter relay with a 2 pin unit that the manuals use (you could modify one), bypasses the auto kill . switch . also do the mod in the web page so the trans error message doesn't come up in the cluster . also just runs the reverse wire from the shifter switch area through to the sensor on the side of the gearbox .
