21' tyres

Recommended Posts

Damn Im giving my internet c*ck (post count) a good spanking today.

Anyone know how much 21' rear tyres for X5's cost ? Cant believe Im even contempating it but 21' Alpinas are very sexy !

Im obviously hoping for BS discount cost here rather than nipping down to Tony's for a roggering.

I know wheels and tires for 20inch where going to cost me 9.5k all up .. 21's will be upwards of that in this country :(

There is an X5 in Wellington that already has the 21' wheels but it needs two new rears, the muppet drove it with them massively over inflated....and Im just wondering what I need to factor into an offer.

It was at Turners, they were expecting 40k and it received no bids at all. Doesnt mean they will take any less for it though.

oh dear :(

[edit] Just found on the web the recommendation is 325/30/21 on the rear but thats not on the list....not sure how I feel about that as a profile....I might have to consider selling to wheels after getting some 19' replacements.

Im only looking at a ball park figure mate, so if you have a price for the 285's let me know.

I will have a look at work tomorrow and see what is available, I have a 21" tyre floating around at work but I am sure it was for a 7 series. Some muppet wanted it then never turned up and cos it was bought on special I wasn't allowed to return it. 285/30 sounds too small, we usually put a 305/30/22 on the rear, so that tyre would be way too small.

It all depends what model X5 it is, so to give you a really accurate price will need to know year, particular model etc

haha it's amazing what a bit of looking does, I take it it is the silver 01 X5 sportpac which should have come out on. 255/50/19 and 285/45/19 factory which would indicate that it needs a 285/35/21. This is slightly closer in overall diameter than a 325/30/21, and probably easier to find. But it will all come down to what is available in this country, I hope you are sitting down when I let you know a price :P

If it is the car im thinking of, you better promise to get rid of the chrome bits on the lights before you drive it on the road!!!

Yes thats the one !! The power of the internet.

The chrome bits are nasty, Ive had another chat with the guy responsible for it and he didnt sound too complimentary about it. Apart from it having a few mechanical problems there is still finance owing on it. If I didnt know any better I would say he was trying to turn me away from it.

Even though it is very sneaky, you could always do a reg check and get in touch with the owner. That way they could answer your questions and you could also by pass the auction - getting a better deal for both of you.

Im sure Turners wouldn't mind if you took it away for a few hours to be checked by a BMW workshop. They offered me an E39 for a few hours which I was looking at buying at Turners here in Dunedin.

A word of caution with Turners. Find out if the car is listed on behalf of a private seller or a dealer. Be very wary of dealer cars. They usually find themselves at Turners because they cannot wholesale it, or won't put it on their yard due to knowing they will be bitten in the ass (under the CGA) as it has issues. As im sure you know, Turners cars are sold on a strict "as is where is" basis.

Yes mate the fact that I sit virtually in the back seat for a start !

Ask Hartage about how long it took to modify my seat so I could get in it :D

ok after much research, telephoning around and being constantly laughed at ;) , I have come to the conclusion that you are better off buying new 20's or 22's! (from me LOL) It seems that the only 21" tyres that are available are 245/35/21 and 285/30/21 which was/is a factory option on BMW 7's. You may be able to find something overseas. Hope those wheels are really heavy cos it seems the only thing they are good for is scrap metal  last time I checked alloy was $2.20+ a kg

Thanks for your efforts Zenetti, Ive just had a call from Turners to say they have sold it for 36k. I pity the poor bugger who has to buy the tyres as its WOF ran out last week....perhaps I should give him your number.

I might need some 18's soon so Ill send you a PM.

Was gonna say .. screw getting alloys for it ... just get some BF goodrich AT's at 35inch / 12.5 wide on 15inch wheels. you can run them at 40psi with no issues and you have your handling back.
