engine numbers

just a bit lost on were the engine number is on my 325i e36

any ideas what side and were bouts it is?

o yer itz a 1992

Do you want to know what model engine or the number?

The engine type will be either M50B25 or M52B25 (with Vanos)...dependant on year

The engine number can be determined by the last 7 digits of the Vin number

ie: ET56746

All parts for your car can be purchased by that number

If you want the actual engine number ( for wot ever reason ) ring the dealer and quote that number

I didn't think there was an M52B25 in 325s - I thought it was designated M50B52 TU or something along those lines and the M52 was only for 323 and 328?

His car would be M50B25 ( non Vanos ) or M50B25TU ( Vanos )

A72649 So is the engine number?

but on my pink slips it says egine number is 35760236 and its a cc rating of 2949cc

u know were bouts the actual is is printed on the motor?

FA72649 identifies your car for options and spare parts. It is not your engine number.

Unless your car has been modified or had an engine swap it is not 2949cc

it will be 2494cc

Its on the block, on a machined surface just below the starter.

I'll try and get it for you of the vehicle data base.
