Genuine Carbon Fibre parts for BMW

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I make Carbon Fibre/Kevlar bits (no fibreglass) and pieces for cars (primarily) and I'm looking to

make some BMW parts.

If anyone is keen to supply parts to make moulds off (or if their is enough demand for a

certain piece I can probably source my own) then let me know.

I like making custom parts if there is a certain thing alot of people want.

I do this as a hobby more than anything from home so I tend to be a little cheaper than imported gear.

I've attached some of my latest work, Carbon + Titanium mirrors

Cheers

Chris

Rough price on Bonnets, boots, doors, sidepanels.

I'm sure you'd sell a few to us racing people.

Bonnet

Bootlid

Functional sunroof

Interior bits that are coated in c/f would be cool (just for the look I guess)

Numberplate surround (thinking mainly for FL E30's)

C/F model designation badge (cut out of C/F - blingtastic)

some interior bits like speaker mounts would be cool. I'm mainly thinking tweeter mounts for the doors by the mirrors?

that mirror looks really nice..mind me asking how you make them? do you vacuum bag from a mould? have done a little bit of glass/carbon work with boat building, but that is another league entirely

Gus, you still got that template for the carbon airbox?

Id be interested in one of those. Failing that i could make a cardboard stencil and post it to you?

Yea cheers

Haha couldnt be f'd searching

Edit: Also be keen to get a carbon guage cluster surround, like the plastic bit that holds it in on E30, can supply the part for mould.

Okay...lets see;

Rough price on Bonnets, boots, doors, sidepanels.

As I haven't made BMW bits before I can't comment with great accuracy regarding these parts esp doors and panels. If they are not to different from the norm expect;

*Full CF bonnet $1000-1500 (with the need for 4 bonnet pins so bonnet is completely removable. fashioning hinges can take longer/cost more but I personally think 4 pins looks better anyway)

*Panels $500+

*Doors - depends on spec, full carbon door without cards and say plastic windows I would guess-tamate $600-1500 each

Sure thing, If anyone lets me use their parts I'll make it cheaper for them. Any small bits you need (mirrors etc) I would be keen to get a hold of them asap as they tend to be the most fiddley and moulds can take longer to sort

that mirror looks really nice..mind me asking how you make them? do you vacuum bag from a mould? have done a little bit of glass/carbon work with boat building, but that is another league entirely

Spot on - some things are infused but if you are a careful I believe wet lay-up can still out perform it. Usually the parts undergo 5 to 6 heat cycles to harden the epoxy. See attachment, this is a mirror top half.

What part of the country you in?

Gulf Harbour - north of Auckland

Yea cheers

Happy to collect it and get going, if you're local of course!

Should be no drama, I'll just need to have a look first. Do you have parts?

Carbon grills?

Might be tricky but again, I can have a look.

Note:

Usually 'mint' parts are prefered for moulds but dont stress too much - the moulds can be shaped, imperfections removed - it just takes a little time!

Gimme a call/txt/email or post reply to oraganise - cheers

keen on a carbon e30 bonnet. Would want a hinged arrangement. need it to match the carbon dtm boot and blade.

Am a wee way off ordering it as the body section of the e30 project will be later 08.
