ThreeOneEight 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I took the exact same setup off my car and replaced it with a factory one! I found it a bit noisy, seeing as the M40 has a fairly 'gravelly' engine note already, how do you find it?

ThreeOneEight 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Still got it? How much? I think it's in my brother's garage somewhere. If I can find it, free (bar postage and packaging).

I found it a bit noisy, seeing as the M40 has a fairly 'gravelly' engine note already, how do you find it? My M43 isnt that noisy? It really sceams hard once you hit 4000RPM right up to redline, doesnt sound like big bore at all, and if I want quiet then just drive it at higher gears...no droning... international 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Tidy - Make any difference performance wise? I dont actually believe there will be much performance increases with this kind of modification, I would suspect there would be some kind of very small power gain once a cold airbox unit is fitted as this allows cooler air to surpass into the filter. As we all know, cooler air, more dense, thus more O2 per unit volume.

Greg111 13 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Yes yes I know....318i is like the bloody black sheep of the family...4 cylinder SOHC, drum rear brakes...Hey may not be the fastest, best looking or best handling but it's a BMW, much rather your car than a tricked out (lets say) honda! Drum rear though, they did (BMW) cut a corner there.
