15x8 -4 , should i?

Recommended Posts

so some of you may have read my members rides thread , i own a bmw e30 with ca18det which is going to be a street/track drift project.

back to the point im looking at 15x8 wheels with a low offset and i found these cheap rims , now these arent the exact ones but i can get brand new ones for $64 us per rim.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...cTODAY.m238.lVI

im gonna stretch 195/50 on them , do u think they would look/fit/work ok?

im thinking of polishing the dish and powder coating insides black? or just leaving them white.

also ill make them fit!!!

cheers.

You will have majors at the back. I have 15X8 +0 Sportmax rims with 205/50/15's. The back rubs hard. Even with fully rolled gaurds you will have problems with -4's. The 205's are slightly stretched too.

This car has -2deg camber on the rear and -3deg at the front. If I try and correct it without rolling the gaurds they will just rub like mad.

Here is my car with the rims. The last owner Togate got them over from the states.

Just what I was hoping not to hear :( .. Dan how do you find hte front mags/tyre's .. are they a staggered setup and do they rub?

Looking at buying a set of 16's for my E30 but am not sure of the widths 100% yet, my guess is 16x7.5 x 16x8 so could have problems :(.

Andy.

they'll fit depending on the offset. You want around ET25 for those widths, tho the 8" rims will be very close to the strut at that offset. ET20 (8" rim) will definately clear the strut, but will probably require guard rolling. I'd run 225/45R16 for both those rim widths.

i prefer the stretched look, with an 8 inch wheel i would use a 195/50 or 45

Hey Togate where did you buy the wheels from? Ebay?

I have found the front wheels rub a bit with full lock. The rear doesn't rub when driving around town. But putting her through the twisties it rubs a little bit every now and then on big bumps.

I am just going to have the rear gaurds rolled. As they have a huge lip on the e30's. Will do the front at the same time. But I think the rubbing at the front on full lock is the rubber touching the body.

yeah i got them off ebay, i think their just touching the body i think a 195 would help or maybe 5mm spacers?

if you go down a profile on the next tyre change maybe 195/50 or 45 it wont rub as much

Yeah I might have a play with it. Will jack it up and see how much it is touching and where. Not too worried about it though. Full counter drifting is usually slow drifting. And the E30 needs to really be moving to get some good slides going.

you should just get a cheap bolt on turbo kit off ebay for an m20b25, would be enough useable power for puke etc.

Nah NA is best. lol. Sick of turbo cars.

13" is pretty crazy. Guy in the Silvia club has 14" wide rims on his S13. Full widebody though. And it will drive like sh*t.
