E60 Oil to use

Recommended Posts

As topic heading - just keen to know what I should be putting in the E60. Oil cap says Castrol, but does anyone know which type of Castrol I should be putting in, last service was in Auckland by Jerry Clayton BMW Auckland

Also, does ANYONE know where the hell the f@#%@ing transmission dipstick is?

Cheers.

From last service invoice, Chc BMW put "Castrol TWS M/SPORT" into the beast and charged $184 +GST just for the oil.

Had a look at the owners manual but no reference to trans Dipstick.

No transmission dipstick on these cars.... you're not supposed to service your own E60! It's a BMW, you're above having to do that for yourself, pay a pleb to do it for you! ;)

This may help http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthrea...W+approved+oils

they seem to be in a spin them selves about what to use

Check out Castrol Syntec 0w-30, 5w-30 other grades maybe available

BMW Synthetic 5w-30

Mobil 1 0w40

Used Castrol Sport Edge 5w-30 fully synthetic $162.00 for 2x 5ltr packs when I changed the oil on the 530. No tranny dip stick is a plug only I believe could be wrong, see some one has already mentioned this

Gannet boy;

where's the fun in that all that lovely hot oil running over your fingers as you take the sump plug out and then it falls into the drip pan just to add insult to injury haha!!
