xtr041947 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Hi I know i might get some stick for wanting to do this as I know it is a saftey feature, but I would like to enable the tv in my 2001 728i to work while in motion. Anyone know how this is done, I have seen some posts of using button on the nav screen to do this but this does not work with my year and or version. hybrid 1043 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 When jochen see's this .. ask him to point you towards his piece of software hes written to reconfigure the BMW nav computer. It can do a lot more than just this. youll also need a interface cable and connector between your laptop and ibus.

jochen 4 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 Jochen. Does the USB connector work with your Navcoder software? Yes, NavCoder works with both Resler interfaces, or with the Simple Interface I have both the Resler USB Interface and the Simple Interface (homemade by me) which I use all the time with NavCoder. jochen 4 Report post Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) I know this post is gettin on, but i couldnt help notice a reference to "cable connections to Archos" in one of the diagrams, i have an Archos Av500 and if there is some way i could connect it to my e39 tv that would be awesome! Does anyone know anything about this? Yes, you can easily connect an Archos AV500, or any other device with AV-Out. Just connect the AV-Out of the AV500 to the AV-In on the BMW TV tuner. Your E39 won't have the AV inputs wired, so you'll have to fit the AV input wiring to the E39. The E39 AV-IN is mono, so just connect Left and Right audio together. Here's the pinout of the TV tuner: AV-IN is white connector, pins 4,5,6,& 15 Use an RCA cable, run it to whereever you want in the car, eg: glovebox. That's what I did. I had the RCA connectors (female) in the cavity where the fusebox is, then I just plugged in any RCA cable I wanted - in my case I used an iPod Video. Note also the presense of a Reverse Camera input - that's a cool feature to add :-) To get the pins for the TV tuner connector, use these ones: BUSHING CONTACT 61130005197 You can get the pins from BMW See also the parts list on RealOEM, the video module connector is item number 9: Edited March 29, 2009 by jochen

camera doctor 25 Report post Posted March 29, 2009 Will this work with my 99 E39 Jappo 540. How much to make me a connector, I'm not very good at electronics This worked for mine - no cables etc needed : set ignition to pos. II enter TV mode enter "settings" enter "contrast" when the green contrast bar is visible, push the knob and keep it pressed turn ignition off (keep button pressed!) wait 8-10 seconds (timing must be accurate!) release the knob turn on ignition again Best of Luck.
