zenetti 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Most of the cost in making kits is in fact in making the moulds- I have two kayak moulds , they cost $20,000 each to make The materials cost $1,100 and the labour is around $1500 we do them in Kevlar & epoxy. The cost in glass and polyester would be $100 less on materials - and 100 less on labour (less skilled people) So a good kit is as mentioned only incrementally more - trouble is the kit market is driven predominantly by price I agree re making th emould is most of the cost.
