Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) Cost, anywhere from $500 to $1000, depending on luck? Yes to all the rest. ie. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...1036472.htm?p=1 Edited April 20, 2008 by Silver Fox
Venatus 2 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I think with certain m20b25s youve gotta get the right box, if they have a crankshaft position sensor mounted on the flywheel? Thats my limited knowledge view of it, I think that when I get around to converting I have to get a gearbox with the right place for a sensor of some type to mount? I could be completely off though...
Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) Yeah, you're right from memory, prefacelift needs sensor IIRC? Someone will tell you. Edited April 20, 2008 by Silver Fox
JiB 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Yup, I have a PFL 325i (M20B25) you need the gearbox with the flywheel sensor holes and the flywheel with the sensor lug. Although it is fairly easy to modify the flywheel for the sensor lug, it is much harder to drill the holes into the gearbox. Your other option is to convert to the crankangle sensor'd facelift system and use the sensor-less box and flywheel (more tuning options this way but $$$) If you have a facelift, I have a good condition getrag 260 (non-sensor hole) you can have for $350ono. (was going to use this but needed the one with sensors. The trade me link above (if it includes everything - trim, boot, shifter) is a good deal. tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 My face lift / sensor less box had both lugs already there in position. If you search for it I'm 90% sure somebody on here did a write up on drilling/tapping the lugs so you can use the newer box on older cars.
