mackt 1 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 I know I said I'm looking for an e39 530 Msport, but doesn't stop me from considering the "classic" e34! I randomly spotted this on the Turners website today, I managed to watch it online - got passed in at about $8k. It's a jap import, with 65,000km. But is it an alpina or a 535 with a bodykit and badges?? Here's some info for you true e34 and Alpina types. VIN 7A81H290701824479? Chassis 0BF91660 The decoder I used says: Chassis number BF91660 Vehicle code DC88 Series E28 Model 535i Body type saloon Catalog model ZA Production date 1990 / 01 Engine M30 Transmission Automatic Steering Right Catalyzer NONE It has the following bits: 3500cc 6 Cylinder Auto. Well presented in metallic blue. BMW 535 with Alpina modifications; 17'' alloys, spoiler, steering wheel and graphics. The interior is particularly clean and it has all the usual high spec, including sunroof and cruise control. Power Steering,Alloy Wheels,Cassette Radio,Sun Roof,Leather Trim,Air Conditioning,Spoilers,Cruise Control,Central Locking,Electric Windows,Anti-Skid Brakes Anyway - is this the deal of the century or should I aim for the ole e39 Msport?? Thanks

Yuen 16 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 I think a genuine Alpina will have a plaque somewhere inside the cabin stating its production number, etc.
mackt 1 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 Thanks for he info guys. The km's are low! Checking the Aplina stuff on line - Yeun is right there is a plaque somewhere on the centre console sayings it's an Alpina... I think I need to build another couple of garages. I feel the need for a project car coming on, and don't want to get rid of my 328. I'd still love to rescue a 635csi.
martyyn 2 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 You can buy the plaques off ebay for about 5 quid so dont assume its genuine even if it has one.
arros 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Yip jeddy's right: BMW VIN decoder says it's a 324d but NZ plate/vin decoder (from 'Interesting website - worth a look' thread) gives it as the genuine article: Make: BMW Model: ALPINA Year: 1990 Submodel: B10 Main colour: Blue Vehicle type: Passenger Car/Van Body style: Saloon No of seats: 5 CC rating: 3,430 Fuel type: Petrol Assembly type: Imported Built-Up Country of origin: Germany VIN: 7A81H290701824479 Plate: ALL159 Engine no: 346KB Chassis: 0BF91660 The chassis number matches what you found, even the mileage matches Reading the details of the one on trademe sounds like there are a number of alpina B10 wannabes. Seems the alpina b10' came in both manual 5 and auto 4 speed all about it B10: 254bhp/192 kw: I think your e39 530 gives you 231bhp/170kw Edited April 28, 2008 by arros

mr E34 11 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 This isn't an Alpina B10.It is a 535i with Alpina alloys & a few add on kit bits. It was imported from Japan & first registered in NZ in Jan 2002, (border check odo 26,238km). From memory it was very tidy.

mr E34 11 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 e34 M5 always been "my precious" Would a couple of badges on that 535i in drag do? Scan www.pistonheads.com in the UK, lots of M cars, when 20yrs old you can import.
