Computer Upgrade....comments ???

We need to upgrade our main computer at work ...just wondered what the IT wizes in here thought ??

Three laptops are wireless connected to our main operating & diagnostic system.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4 Ghz processor

Asus P5KPL-CM mother board

2 Gb DDR2 800Mhz

Western Digital 320GB SATA2 Hard drive

Lite-on 20X Writer

Asus 8400GS 512MB PCI-e Graphics card

Price: $835 + GST

Glenn,

You do not mention Display or Operating system - are you not buying those?

Also, do you NEED a separate Video Card - if just for business use, would onboard suffice?

The E4600 is basically the lowest spec Core 2, but again fine for business use.

Price seems high if no operating system, but would depend on Case/PSU spec etc etc.

With wireless, Skype, Internet, BS, on at the same time the whole thing just slows down and some times freezes.

The RAm is limited because of the old box (6yrs old) My key board & 22inch screen are new

BTW...this all comes with software & XP proffessional

In that case, the price is pretty decent, XP Pro lifts the cost by $200

BTW our present computer is a Pentium 4 1.4 Gig, 20 gig hard drive and only 384 Meg of ram

Very, very out of date and struggling

Needs to browse bimmersport faster :P

You a mac fan glenn? My only tip for buying a new computer is: if youre going Vista, dont go basic, go home premium.. with 2gig RAM.
