Commercial Vehicle Lease

Recommended Posts

I want to lease a commercial 4x4 - either SUV or Double Cab ute.

Will be operating in the Bay of Islands area and needs to be a workhorse, not a cross-over, or rep-mobile. Must have low-range 4x4, and not just AWD.

Something a couple of years old (so if it gets the odd site-ding etc it won't be the end of the world) would be best say 2004 or newer.

Anyone know of any good lease companies?

I was planning on purchasing, but thought I'd explore lease options as well.

How much do you want to spend?

Leasing used cars is a waste of time. Not really any cheaper than new.

All leases require the car to be returned in "acceptable" condition, so you will have to repair any dings and dents. Ford and Holden usually do sharp lease deals and I think Toyota often run good value specials too.

Bummer you just missed out on a 05 NZ new Suzuki Jimny travelled 50kms which was at Turners last week for $7k

Jimny is a bit small. I have heaps of gear. Currently long-term renting a Nissan terrano with the back seats folded forward and it is full. Reason for upgrade is my long-serving 1995 Ford Courier double cab gave it up last week.

Reason for lease is because the accountant suggested it and I want to run my own figures for my situation rather than just believe whatever I'm told. I don't own the company, but have to fit the vehicle into my departmental budget. I'm just an employee B)

I've been looking at double cab utes, Terrano's, Explorers, Pajero's, Challenger's, etc. need a long wheelbase to fit all the gear in.

Can buy what I want for $25k, and if I have to tighten the budget, I've seen 2000 SUV's with under 100,000kms for $15k - add custom racks and some signwriting and I'm up and running for well under $20k, and probably get 5 years out of it.

In terms of second hand leases i would look at Orix etc. There have been a lot of cars returned of late due to companies failing etc that arent that old and the lease companies will want to re lease them instead of selling them and loosing a packet.

Other option is to look at anything thats on runout ie when i leased the SV6 took the old model runout for $670 per month while the new model was $930 and frankly there both crap so might as well have the cheaper crap ha. Oh but dont touch the Rodeo, we leased 2 and both are by far the worst cars we have.

Thanks for the heads up about the Rodeo - havn't driven one yet, but have some on the list.

Have seen the Orix website, so will get in touch with them and Custom Fleet. Two should be enough to see if the numbers stack up.

Cheers.

Pajeros break down in my experience. Nice wagon but those mitsubishi V6...

Get a Explorer V8, black on black with tints- so FBI.

not true... there are some very good landcruisers and patrols in my local 4x4 club, but as a rule, hiluxes, safaris and suzukis rule. Although I have a Daihatsu and it isn't half bad.

Will give espanda a gander aswell.
