joshnz 2 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 The 7 has been sitting for a few months now, just waiting for some work to be done, well I decided to make a start today and of course it won't start so I can't bring it outside of the garage! The battery has been freshly charged, when I turn the key all I get is a loud "click click click" from the engine, I'm hoping I can fix this myself ... anyone have any ideas? I had a bit of a Google and I got some results for fuel pump? Thanks guys Josh
iball 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 I had what sounds like the same problem this week in my e46 the click click noise when trying to start - it turned out to be a stuffed battery (which in turn stuffed the alternator). I did manage to jump start the car - but if you can't get another car near it, being in the garage and all, maybe those portable jump units would be an option (could be expensive though). *Glenn* 854 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Sounds like a faulty battery. Who charged it and did they load test it ?? If its a calcium battery and ordinary charger doesnt charge them properly

Mark 178 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) Gimme a B! Gimme an A! Gimme a T-T-E-R-Y! What does that spell? As Glenn said, BMW batteries can't be charged with a bog standard battery charger. If you're a member, get the AA out, they can install one on the spot for you. If it was the fuel pump, the car would crank but not start. Edited September 25, 2008 by gannetboy
