Anyone got a pic of a SA sump guard?

Recommended Posts

I want one to email to the states and don't want to wait until I'm home tonight, so if anyone has a pic, please post it up. Pics of it installed would be good aswell, but beggars can't be choosers.

Hey Graham, not sure if it helps but I've got one out of the car, tis a different design to that one above. Unsure whether it is genuine bmw but the parts that mount to the car and hte guard are tubular with a bracket plate on the end and there is a circular hole for reaching the sump plug. Give me a yell if you want pics and I'll grab some. Could spray some paint over the rust for your pic purpose.

Andy.

Yeah that's the one I want. I don't think we got the Real OEM one here in nz, and in anycase it looks like a piece of crap. (I got that far myself Ollie and goddamn google images is the poo for pics of this).

That would be cool Andy - don't worry about the paint unless you were doing it anyway.

BTW, I'm thinking about drilling some holes in mine to lighten it - what do you think?

I think I weighed mine a while back, I think if my memory serves me right 9.8kg.

The paint showed up on the underside a little too well, can take a few pics later when it drys.

Camera phone isnt that flash but pics seem okay.

Thanks dude - legend.

BTW - mine's slightly different - the mounts at the end of the bar bolt into the side of the chassis rail, not the bottom, and are hook-shaped so you can put the bolts in part way, hook the guard over them, and then the weight is off to do all the bolts up.

9.8kg - thats alot. Wonder how much weaker it'd be with some speed holes???

same as my one

good idea to remove weight from it, they are heavy buggers

Sorry bit OT, but would a sump gaurd once installed be considered part of the sump and or chassis? Ie would it fail me on a wof?
