thanks i really want to take the intake manifolds off polish them and give them another clear coat so it gets rid of the yellow tarnish and looks as good as it did from factory

Welcome, nice car you have there :). I was watching the trademe auction, and noticed it had been withdrawn. Good to see you joined Bimmersport!

Yeah was watching that one too to see what it would go for, came up just after i got mine.

How much did you get it for if you don't mind me asking?

I got the same alloys as you and i quite like them. Should start a 750i club :D

the yellow stuff is actually a protective coating applied by the factory, called cosmoline. There are some realy good resources for the e32 750 this guy in particular.Dont be confused by the e 34 forum. The e32 and the e34 have a lot in common.

thanks he seems to have a vast knowledge

i was thinking of either cleaning the yellow off and re clear coating them to look like plain aluminium (not polishes)

and i was also thinking painting the center plastic cover either crinkle red or black keeping bmw symbols and the other silver pieces

also one of the main problems im facing is the key is one of the spring loaded flick out ones

but has been broken so i only got given the metal piece from inside it which is annoying as theres very little piece to hold and leverage is crap

can anyone tell me whether i could just replace the plastic piece or would i need a whole new key

if i got a new key is a bmw dealership the only place to get them and how much can i expect to pay for one

thanks

Noooooo. paint it black will looks 20 times better in my opinion.

Awesome car by the way! Hope it serves you well, And to think only 16 years ago that car was proberbly in excess of $250,000!

yea i have had the same opinion from a few other people

so would probably go black and for the fact that its uber hard to find crinkle red paint these days

i might get a can of satin black and paint the rest of the plastic like fan shroud etc

although i havent had a good look at it it might come up nice with some armorall

as was posted earlier the yellow comes from the factory coating

was it yellowish from factory ?? or just tarnished that way

I have the a proper E34 one which is just about the same as the E32 one, just doesn't cover the M70 obviously

Bit of info on the E32 particularly the V12 on this site
