what size tyres for 8 inch Alpinas on e36

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on what size tyres I should fit on my 17 x 8 Alpinas?

Ive got some 215/45/17s which I thought would be ok (it's only a 318i, so I don't really want to "over tire"), but I think that 225/45/17 are the OEM size, and may fill out the guards slightly better. It's on standard height suspension.

Any thoughts?

i use 235/40-17" on my 8.5" MK motorsport alloys on my e36 325i
