bmpower 3 Report post Posted January 6, 2009 I have an 323i e36 coupe mtech with mtech suspension. I have just got some 17x8.5 et38 wheels and want to know how wide i can run on the back. i'm thinking of running 225x45x17 on the front and maybe 245/255x40x17 on the back?? Does anyone have a staggered fitment on their car similar? The car is standard height and i don't want it to rub with weight! I currently have 18x8 with 235x40x18 (et38 i think) all round and with 5 people and stuff in the boot it catches the archs on bumps, and the fronts rub on lock. How wide can i run without rubbing on the rear?? Thanks.
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) i run 235/40 17" all around on 8.5" alloys . as per MK motorsport specs . http://www.mkmotorsport.de/html_en/mk1_rims.htm http://www.mkmotorsport.de/html_en/e36_3er_rad.htm if i load the car up with people i might just rub the plastic inner guard at the rear over a bump, but no real problem. std 325ci springs did you buy my mates hamann wheels . nice wheels . would have brought them my slef if i didn't already have these. much better wheel than most of those asian knock things Edited January 6, 2009 by Brent HARTGE535i

I might just try 245's on the back and 225's on the front then and see how they go!
Ben 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2009 You should fit 245s piece of piss I had 275s on 9.5inch rims when my car was standard hieght and the only time it would rub was under an EXTREME feint drift or cornering at 150+ks I got 245s on the same rims now and it rubs a little bit but my cars quite low and my wheels only JUST fit in the gaurds
bmpower 3 Report post Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Got the wheels and tyres on today! In the end went with Toyo proxes T1R 225x45x17 front and 245x40x17 on the rear. So far am extremely impressed with the Toyo's (I normally run Direzza DZ101 or Sport Maxx) Also no rubbing whatsoever - so may go up to 255's or 265's next time round on the rear. Also have had a huge change in handling (was running 235x40x18 all round) used to loose slight traction in the front then loose the rear - now the front keeps turning in and the rear keeps gripping. Will post up pics tomorrow of the new look. Oh and the new wheels are Hamann HM3's 17x8.5 et38 Edited January 15, 2009 by bmpower
bmpower 3 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Few pics of the new wheels! Springs have now settled in so its slightly lower. So far i'm extremely impressed with the handling, am very impressed with the proxes T1R. Having said that i believe the improvment is largly due to going down to 17's, and back to 225's on the front, and now 245's on the rear. The car just seems to grip and grip!
