Personally, I did a degree in computer science which has nothing to do with graphic design as it's mainly programming, networking, software engineering, algorithms, maths etc... However, I needed to do this degree to get into software development. Was not easy, but very rewarding in the end... hell it helped me get into an M3 Another guy in our company, or our main web developer did a 3 year web design diploma at Natcol. Not quite as complicated as software but still requires a bit of programming. If you really don't want to get into programming, I am sure there is a pure graphic design diploma where you would get into print work and digital art and company branding / advertisement. Not a big fan though of designing websites anymore, gone off them a bit. I use to design and make them for school projects but so so much work is involved lol i got sick of it. Thats awesome advice, thanks heaps aye ill take it all on board Yer i guess your right about how there are heaps of designers and all of them think that they are the best along with their work. So its hard, what i might think is good, someone else might not like at all. But i need to have that x factor, and offer something more. I think it all comes down to originality i guess and creativity. Something new that no ones seen, something different. Ill just keep doing what im doing in the mean time really and see where that takes me. Most likely will move up to Auckland next year to do Uni, what you reckon? Over creativity I would say the abilty to protray what the client wants is key, more improtant than being ultra ccreative, very rarely would I say you will get a client come in and say do what ever the Hell you want - suprse and impress me. I love my iPhone to bits and use almost every feature... but damn you are brave to be writing up kick ass posts on it lol! p.s. I think you ended up in the right place to be honest, you will always have that creativity and it means that within the IT field you can use it to your advantage as almost 99% of people in the industry lack it. Tsk tsk tsk iPhone = good PDA / shitty phone - no pxt/mms, can't forward messages, no video, 2mp camera, no copy paste, crap reception, Bluetooth +wifi on kills the battery, can't be used as storage device, list goes on. It's ok, would recommend it to people in a hurry IT is easy and pays the bills, well some of them damn pugs- currently a CAD Admnistrator and it's ok, kinda boring - I miss being a CAD Designer a far bit. But in a large Corp the creative side isn't really needed more just the abilty to do your specific role very well, without getting sucked into other peoples political agendas... They suck!
