Shakey E30 Ride

Recommended Posts

I was driving on the motorway the other day and as soon as i reach to about 85 km + i feel the car starts to shake.. Has this happend to anyone before ?

My first thought on it was just a wheel alignment, so i got my wheels balanced and aligned but still has a bit of a shock.Could it be bushings ?

Any thoughts ?

Id say bushes, even things like wheel nuts on tight, shock mounts, tie rod ends etc etc

I am no pro tho, just personal experience.

I have had it for a while and heard of a couple others with this too. Although mine tends to be at a bit higher speeds. I wouldn't have a clue why it does it though sorry.

Can be incorrect centre bore size on your rims as well if they're aftermarket and you're not running rings.

I think that could be whats wrong with mine. Any idea how much the rings are?

Talk to your local tyre shop, not too expensive I don't believe.

Otherwise talk to Jono, "zenetti" on here.

Alright, thanks! I'll take it down to magwarehouse tomorrow and see if they can sort something out.

Other cause could be a bent rim, sometimes wheel balancing can fix this but not always. They can sometimes miss it too when they do the balance.

i can really suggest a wheel balance, had the same prob with the 325i, swapped a set of rims on i knew were balanced and the problem was fixed

as SILVERFOX suggested it will almost definitely be locating rings. Make sure you have them sorted our first before you go checking bushes etc.
