curryinahurry 39 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 Hi guys, Recently I came across this website (http://www.tradecarview.com) where you can directly import cars from Japan. Has anyone got any experience with this? I'm interested in getting a E39 (525 / 528 / 530) M-Sport, but it seems like a lot of the dealers here in NZ don't stock them anymore - is this due to the change in import laws? The prices quoted here on this site seems pretty cheap - obviously there are additional costs, but I'm not too sure what they are.. haha Are there anyway to tell whether cars are "registerable" in NZ? Cheers, Andrew

RvT 9 Report post Posted May 28, 2009 If you are a virgin importer and want to learn, check out this company. Haven't dealt with the company you are talking about but they are no doubt clipping some ticket. This company is as direct as you can get as you bid on "Turners Style" auctions thru them ... http://www.kadoco.co.jp/ I have completed 15+ imports privately and changed to the above company for the last 6 cars as their service was better and a great team to work with. Process is easy and can be trusted. If you do some homework, and read about what you can and can't import on this site. From memory, anything before Year 2000 is off limits now with emmision laws here ... http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/44.html I haven't looked at importing for a year now as the $/Yen dropped from 85 down to 60 Yen / $NZ. You will find most of us casual importers are parked up as it is not cost effective to import compared with Trademe prices.
