When i talked to a few places who sell and 'tune' radars, i was recommended either the Valentine or Bel Sti

He said these two were the best for NZ conditions and could be tuned for optimal performance.

Not sure if they fall in your price range tho

+1

I've got a Beltronics STi-R hardwired into my 335i - it has saved me big $$ - and you can't see it.

The reason why the V1 owns all is because they tell you the direction the signal is comiong from. That with my satnav = know pretty much where the source is going to be well in advance.

I used a bell once and felt blind when I had churps, felt like a big step backwards.

Radar detectors however will not save you if the radar tracking you is in hold mode at distance.

The police have now been trained how to best use hold mode on the stalker radar units and can accurately lock your speed around 900 meters LOS before you have time to react. I know cause i've been done like this before.

STI-XR is my personal fav. There is also a older model Bell that rates quite well, RX65 would be my budget pick.

I'll be playing with some new GPS's with radar in the next few weeks, they look promising.

Can anyone here please tell me how to set up my Valentine 1 correctly?

I am sick of it going off every time I pass Middlemore Hospital, petrol stations and traffic lights.

The best is getting your eyesight checked and learn to read the roads correctly.

[ The Road-Nazis need to find suitable places to hide ]

This method has worked for me for many years

If you must use electronic weaponry try this

http://www.radarjammers.com/

On a jap import , power it up from a relay via the speed warning alarm

[ that way their radar gets a reading when you are below 100k's ]

This is how the importers code in to be "NZ Ready". As others have said, just turn off the X band...

And how would this work in a 30, 50, 60, or 80 kmph zone?

Tip for Valentine One users:

Get your hands on a StealthOne and have the radar warnings appearing in the text display of your BMW instrument cluster

http://www.stealthone.biz/

Prerequisite: your car must have the check control (text) display, which is standard on the high IKE (high-level instrument cluster)

It doesn't!!

Anyone speeding in Urban areas needs to have a sharp eye.

A police radar isn't the only hazzard out there.

yep, I have the blinder laser jammers on my 335i (as well as the Bel STi-R). I have a switch under the dash which turns them off once I have come down to speed. Then the piggy-wiggy can get a lock on me...

I've used it quite a few times heading into Auckland near the Barrys point rd offramp heading south. Piggy-wiggy sits there quite a bit with his little power gun...

If you want a wireless install kit for the blinder give me a yell. Auto switch of and bla bla

But yeh love my laser jammer!

Oh and this stuff works ;)http://www.laserveil.com/faqs/
