E30 M20 Belts & AC?

Recommended Posts

Just replacing my fan belt,

And there's 2 more belts infront of it that it looks like i'll have to take off to get the old fan belt off,

I realise one will be the PS and one AC, But which one is which?

Is AC the one on the opposite side to the Alternator? If so can I leave it off as it doesnt work anyway?

How hard is it to remove AC?

Cars a 87 320i btw.

Thanks,

James.

All I can add is that removal of the air conditioning requires a certified person to get the toxic gas out of it, which could be expensive unless you know someone.

Ah okay, Thanks for letting me know that. I'll just take the belt off and leave it I guess

When looking at the engine from the fron the AC is the one on the left and yes you can leave the belt off it if you don't want to use it.

It's refrigerant.

My mate was a d*ck and pulled my A/C out. Let it vent out into his face. Retard.

Sucks though, Wish I had A/C some days Lol.

My A/C needs Regassing... Apparently it's no longer allowed to be regassed?

I'm just gonna remove the belt if not.

I miss my AC aye, but when I done the M50 conversion i got rid of it, i went to relieve all the gas and it was all gone anyway so just removed all my lines. With my Integra though it still had a lot of gas in it as I found out when I de-gased it in my parents garage... WRONG MOVE! Filled the air with fog and covered the car, roof and ground with a foamy type gas definitely a messy operation. woops....

Mine E30 A/C works extremely well it'll cool the car so quick it makes the E36 A/C look terrible and nothing demists the windscreen in winter faster than A/C.

There is apparently a new gas that is compatible with the seals in the older AC systems that is available now. Might be worth checking out.
