Wervie67 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) This just goes to show how unaccurate e30 fuel gauges are. Found it rather strange, knowing my tank was dead empty, haha and for all you non e30'ers the red light is the fuel light Edited July 29, 2009 by Wervie67
Jamez 2147483647 Report post Posted July 28, 2009 they usaly go funny when the SI board battrys die, my old e30 had a faulty guage, took it apart and most of the electrics on the SI board were burnt, some had melted onto the board itself, it explained why the plastic exterior was brown and not white might pay to have a looksee

c.robertson00 11 Report post Posted July 28, 2009 Is it a new cluster that you put in? I put an african cluster in my car When i was on empty and it said i had 1/3 of a tank left. I guess thats because they have a long range tank
my_e36 43 Report post Posted July 29, 2009 I once fill the tank to the brim to the point I can see the petrol swirling around from the filler neck. It registered 3/4 full until I've driven around 30km only then it register "full".
Venatus 2 Report post Posted July 29, 2009 my fuel gauge needle flies around when you drive it hard over bumps etc... then just hit the dash and the needle goes back to empty. where it should be haha
antil33t 90 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 Mine does that too, I think it might be the earthing nut on the back of the cluster.
deane30 30 Report post Posted July 31, 2009 There should be a small brass nut on the back of the instrument cluster that needs tightening (so i've read)
