96 e36 323i overheating

I was going home from northcote to albany on the motorway, and there was traffic.

i looked at my gauge and it was like 3/4 then it hit the red light.

so i stopd for a while on the side of the motorway, then started it again and headed bak home.

it was still on red

then i got off the motorway and just before 5mins away from home somthing blew up.

then coolant, steam was pissing out of somewhere in the engine bay but couldnt tell where it was from.

i replaced my radiator a week ago because my old one had a leak on the side plastic tank.

it has never been like this.. it overheated few times before I replaced my radiator due to leaking all the coolant.

so what could be wrong in my car?

could it be the thermo or the water pump..??

I need help.. my car is still parked on the road..

Most likely the water pump. But it could be a number of different things... (Thermostat, viscous fan etc)

You really shouldn't have kept driving after it started to overheat, hopefully you haven't caused any damage to the head.

Have the car towed to a reputable BMW mechanic and get them to check it out for you.

could it done that because i didnt bleed the radiator proply?

water leaks when i poor water in it leaks from the middle bit under the car but can not see at the moment as its dark.

would it b a hose that had been come off from the hot pressure?

have started the car to move abit foward under lights so it would b safe..

and dont think there was any damage to the engine, running all sweet.

i hope its not stuffed , cracked head etc .

get it sorted properly a tow is much cheaper than an engine .

check

viscous clutch on fan .

water pump ,

jammed thermostat.

make sure its bled properly .
