javlin 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 Hi all, we are at the point of putting the cylinder head back on after planing head new rings etc. The Bentley manual says to use new head bolts. How critical is this? Has anyone reused the old bolts and not had any problems? thanks.

Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 Thought that was with stretch bolts Glenn? The M30 has standard bolts, not stretch.
Sick Puppy 1 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Nah, what Glenn says- where head bolts are concerned, use new ones - period.
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Torque to yield bolts shouldn't ever be used twice.. They are the ones you tighten to a torque spec, then angle turn to yield torque. Standard headbolts CAN be used again, But I wouldn't ever use the same headbolts twice...
