RyanG 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 Does anyone have a rough of idea of a price for an m52b28 headgasket? I just need the gasket. thanks
greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 $100? Probably less. Give Gavin at Euro Italian a call. He'll do you a great deal.

greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 I base that on the price of a brand new M20 headgasket I had, which I got priced up at about $60. So it actually should be less than that.

RyanG 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 How much do you want for it?
RyanG 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 $190 + gst....
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted September 14, 2009 Try somewhere like Repco. Quite abit cheaper, but of less quality.
RyanG 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 I used repco gaskets once before. Never again. All the rubber bits split in about 2 days. They also wanted $110 for a serpentine belt.
euroitalian 62 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 Doubtful Repco would stock these anyway, as they are an MLS gasket.
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted September 14, 2009 That is pretty cheap if it is an MLS then. Mine for the m20 cost me $426 shipped from the U.S.

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 Wait on - Isn't an MLS headgasket reusable ? You never reuse a headgasket
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted September 14, 2009 You never reuse a headgasket What about MLS ones ? Is OEM different, I'm not sure... But Cometic ones you can re-use. It's not like they perish or deform.
RyanG 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 You never reuse a headgasket You can reuse Cometic MLS ones.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 You can reuse Cometic MLS ones. Where did you find that info? I couldn't find it on the Cometic websites. I dont want info from a random on some overseas forum. I'd like to see the manufacturer saying it can be reused. I'm not saying your wrong... I cant find the info. Most headgaskets have a crushable ring around the combustion chamber that crushes when the head is torqued, therefore it can only be used once.
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted September 15, 2009 Not directly from Cometic, But on sites selling cometic they claim they can be reused up to 4 to 5 times, before the spring embossments lose their memory. http://www.spottsperformance.com/cometic%20head%20gaskets
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 I still wouldn't on a road car. And I'd still like to see if Cometic endorse the reuse of their product. I couldn't find anything relating to it.
Guest FrantiC Report post Posted September 15, 2009 Neither could I to be honest. If you google it, there are people re-using them a few times even in race car applications. Luke re-used his in his m50 turbo.. I would be very wary of re-using one though, especially with high amount of K's on it. Though they are only a piece of steel with 2 thin sheet steel plates riveted onto each side which have the sealant on them. Cometic do suggest removing the rivets and spraying copper spray between each layers and on the outside if you issues with them sealing.

I doubt they would say it on their website as it could become a problem with warranties etc. AFAIK they dont have a crushable ring like conventional head gaskets, and reusing them is fine.
