Car Registration - Great Find Exempt A

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I have being working on my cars for years, and having to deal with putting the registration on hold etc, and driving/testing with NO WOF/Rego great fun that has being.

Until recently my cousin who has being doing it for years let me in on a secret

details below

Exempt Class A

Exempt Class A vehicles are not exempt from registration and licensing but are exempt from registration fees and the vehicle licence portion of the licensing fee. You still have to pay for other fees and levies included in the total licensing fee – for example, you still have to pay for the appropriate ACC levy, registration plates and labels.

Exempt Class A vehicles are:

* vehicles used on a road that is not a public highway, vehicles used on public highways only for inspection, servicing, repair or for a practical driving test. (Please note that you can only drive vehicles without a WoF or CoF on the road for the purpose of bringing the vehicle into compliance, and it must be safe to be operated for that purpose)

* pedestrian-controlled goods services vehicles

* fully tracked vehicles

* vehicles used in a declared road construction zone

* vehicles crossing or proceeding along a section of a road when authorisation has been given by a local roading authority under certain conditions

* all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) used on a public highway, in moving from the owner's residence to a road that isn't a public highway, where the distance travelled doesn't exceed three kilometres, or in connection with the inspection, servicing or repair of the vehicle.

This Actually is great 2 Cars registered for a year cost me $41 and then you can still go get your WOF but makes good fun if your WOF is expired and you get pulled over - "im just on my way to the garage"

and with this registration its cheap and i know you can do that on a normally rego if the cops being nice - but to have my car fully registered for the price of nothing and can be used for testing on the road without getting in to much trouble

Hope you Guys like it

Been well known for many years.

If you are using it just for testing purposes or another legitimate reason than thats all good.

But if you are using it so you don't have to get a WOF on a car that prob can't get a WOF. Then I hope you get caught and done for fraud.

Yeah old school as.

The rural people seem to have them quite a bit and don't seem to get looked at too much.

It's like a whole bunch of people who registered their cars as hearses a few years back- the LTSA cottoned onto it and were less than impressed- the 'F' word was used a fair bit...
