curryinahurry 39 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 Hi, I've just taken my car for a WOF this morning (E46 330CI) and its failed due to "low rear brake pads". I've had a look at it and theres roughly 4mm left and the light hasn't even come on in my dashboard. So my question is, should the pads need changing even before the light comes on? Or are these dudes just trying to land themselves some business? Any input much appreciated. Cheers, Andrew
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 Some of these AVI's are getting a bit over the top I think. Did you check the inner and the outer pads both sides? Theres only a wear indicator on the R/H outer disc pad.
curryinahurry 39 Report post Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) Thanks Glenn, I haven't had a chance to look at the inside yet. I've just taken a picture of the rear RHS - theres plenty there! Edited October 6, 2009 by curryinahurry
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted October 6, 2009 Going by the picture the lining material is about the same thickness as the pad backing plate. They are getting low and wont have much life left. If the rest are the same as in the picture it shouldn't be a WOF fail if they operate correctly. They should have just noted that the brakes would need to be done soon.
