Q? CDROM spools. Screen is dead, HDD is dead, power light is only one to come on. No fan, no motherboard mounted ancillaries seem to function at all. Am I correct in concluding that the motherboard has failed?

Am assuming CDROM draws power direct, rather than from mboard

I would say it has failed.

the board can still power up, but not work.

hence would power on the CD Drive.

COuld be motherboard or powersupply given the fact if screen doesnt come on - if laptop prob open up and check power is going through

Tbh, I wouldn't even try replace that motherboard.

It will be extremely expensive.

Better off claiming insurance.

Am trying the online game at the moment - keep getting funnelled out due to being out of warranty <_<

Insurance is looking the good option I guess

last few times I had tried this, Completely different chip sets, it would blue screen on start up.. Yes It can be done, I just prefer to have a clean copy.

ShadowProtect. It installs all the correct drivers for the new hardware while keeping the current data, license keys, passwords, setups..... IT consultants swear by it.

Download a program called EASEUS data recovery wizard. It works 9 times out 10 to recover lost data. No software will recover all of the files and some maybe corrupt as a result of this.

If you like i can send you the full version which allows you to recover all the files. The trial is sh*t as

Can I grab a copy of that off ya dude.... ive had a drive in my media machine die on me... tried using the western digital scanning software and it came up complaining about to many bad sectors and would really like to get everything back off it
