bmguy 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2009 Hey all im new to the world o euro cars and so far i can say there great cars to drive i need to know if my 1997 320i has got a timing chain or a belt have seen lots of different answers and would like to get the right one any help would be great. Docile 64 Report post Posted October 17, 2009 welcome dude.. yeah 97 have a timing chain. dont need to replace it. although may need to adjust it at some point.. on that matter.. where can me gets a timing chain tensioner for my e36? how much do those cost? HELLBM 1557 Report post Posted October 17, 2009 Dealt with M42`s with broken timing chains. Use tensioners from M44`s on them. Much more reliable. M50`s and M52`s don`t seem to have the same problems. M60B30 baby 8 has them breaking alot. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
